People need to stop saying that Chester made a “choice”. The man was in pain for years until he’s tragic passing in 2017! Sometimes I don't understand how people react and think. Emily can’t be blamed for the fact that her parents are high-ranking members of the Scientology movement, and that she may have been surrounded by that cult/culture her entire upbringing. People are incredibly quick to judge without having even a shred of facts to base it on. Even if she distances herself from it today, it’s not certain that she would mention it officially. As a comparison, I have a friend from Turkey who secretly converted to Christianity. He told me that his Muslim family in Istanbul and the rest of his relatives in Turkey would completely cut him off if they found out. He even said, 'My mother would kill me.' So only his closest friends knew about it.

Let’s remember, the band didn’t ask to be put in this situation. it’s not like Chester was fired from the band, they didn’t want to replace him, he chose to take his own life. not to mention the band wasn’t just all about Chester, it was about everyone involved. even he knew that, when Warner Brothers wanted Chester to be the main focus, he told them to go to hell. they tried to get Mike kicked out of the band.

I have no issues with her being the new lead singer. I believe women can be fantastic hard rock singers. Look at In This Moment, Evanescence, The Pretty Reckless, Flyleaf, Skillet (Jen Ledger), and Within Temptation. I think as a vocalist she’s decent overall. The problem is the ties to a cult, and harassing Danny Masterson’s victims. One of which was a Scientologist who took her own life because she was threatened by the church. Fortunately, she has distanced herself from Danny, but I don’t buy that apology for a second. I’m sorry, but this is how I feel. I want more info before I’m ready to see them in concert/buy merch. Replacing CB who struggled with depression with someone who’s part of a cult that’s anti medication as someone who requires SSRIs to live a day to day life really rubs me the wrong way. Yes, she was born into it which isn’t her fault, but we need more answers.
