Hi, can you help me with something? I got through last winter having some issues with feeling my skin quite dehydrated, tried different moisturisers and night creams, the only thing that helped a little was mixing my moisturiser with a little bit of castor oil, and now in summer (here where I live) it just occurred to me that it might have been the hyaluronic acid serum I was using (like, it doesn't sound like a good idea to use hyaluronic acid in dry winter) and I was thinking, what are some good serums to use in the winter? What actives are best? Thank you (it probably is best if you can point the ingredients and not products names, cause it can happen than I won't find the brands here)

Hi. One of the best articles I also read are from Paula's Choice on hyaluronic acid so I hope that helps. I'll share an experience just so you can have something genuine, but otherwise, research into hyaluronic acid. I'm no doctor but having experienced hyaluronic acid, it's best to use it in tandem with another very moisturizing product to layer it on top. Because hyaluronic acid works to hold water to hydrate the skin, but to hold water, it needs to draw it from a source and it could draw it from the environment or from your own skin. It can end up dehydrating your skin if used alone, as it did mine when I was in a drier area. I'm in a humid tropical country where the air is a bit damp so hyaluronic acid on its own is good for me. If you're on a dryer area, it might not actually work or end up dehydrating. So just as a caution, research this and use emollient or hydrating moisturizers.

@@audrey9able thank you for sharing this information. I live in Brazil, a tropical country, but I guess cause I'm in a quite big city (next to Sao Paulo) the air ain't damp enough.

@@jujubifera you're welcome!! Hyaluronic acid is good, but does have that limit. I'm just going to suggest researching ingredients that are known to be hydrating besides hyaluronic acid. I have an article I saved from Byrdie.com that covers a glossary but it's not too long. Its a good opener to research more ingredients that they might have left out or only touched on. www.byrdie.com/skincare-ingredients-glossary
