Been working my way through the box set of this great series & have to say that Robert Stack was absolutely superb playing the lead role... an inspired piece of casting! The high contrast style of filming employed for the series works really well in upping the dramatic ante, as do the permanently rain slicked night time streets!

I remember this show well , and still catch it on ME TV when it’s on , the main star in a lot of these is the Thompson Machine gun ,,,1 of my favorite episodes is 90 proof dame , the other is Lee Marvin in The Nick Acropolis story , classic stuff .

Yes, great show fr. a great era in TV. Saw every episode, I think. Yes, the 45acp 'Tommy Gun', great weapon. Heavier than shit! The Colt Police 38 Special Revolvers were always a fave of mine. Im a gunshop employee/revolver owner. Just loved this show...perceived as a bit violent for the day..Hell, that's how it was!! Loved those other episodes you mentioned too. There was,one episode starting Telly Savalas, when he had hair!! Lol.

Just look at this production, & tell me it was not innovative.Loved watching this as a young boy, wonder why I still find it fascinating 50 years later ?.
@uglyturnips28135 жыл бұрын
I think the reasons people are still watching is that it rings true; there are real, truthful law enforcement officers; thugs finally do get caught and punished ( not like today, where lying, crooked attorneys get horrible people off) ; script is well written and it’s not dependent on cheap filthy jokes; -there’s a cry in the human heart for justice and though it seems to be a diminishing reality, this show reflects how things once were and could be--gives people hope

I remember Rich Little doing an impersonation of Walter Winchell. "The year was 1930, Prohibition kicked in and the country went dry. The bootleggers started making illegal alcohol and the speakeasies were doing good business for the mob coffers"

The 4th season wasn’t nearly as good as the first 3.
@johnerwin90243 жыл бұрын
Yeah, 1st part of 4th season toned down because of outside public pressure, ratings dropped. Shows producers I guess decided show was going out on top; episodes better by end of 4th season-

Didn't the Mob have a hand in having Desilu Studios end creating these series of The Untouchables? That is what I heard. Even Bill O'Reilly commented about a section in his newest book KILLING THE MOB whereby Desilu Studios was persuaded to end filming this show.
