Where I am living in the South Island of New Zealand we have many walks similar to Cornwall where we can see beautiful scenery for free, and we love coastal walks plus walks through the native bush, with lovely birdsongs, and I can’t imagine not going out for our walks! It’s really the best way to relax and wind down after a hard week at work.

I always LIKE! What a jam-packed adventure! Charming town with interesting history. Challenging cliff walk with pirate stories and a crew of bovine teenagers. Stunning views, and a bit of drama over dead ends. And wildflowers galore! I would love to go exploring with you two. Such a sense of adventure you have. On a trip to Germany with good friends, we discovered, at around midnight, that the highway back to the place we were staying didn't actually connect with the road we were on. We looked up aghast to see the bridge between the two steep hills, with no way to get there. After forty minutes of driving to dead ends in the dark countryside, we found what looked like access to a bridge across the Rhine; nope...it was a ferry dock, dark and clearly closed at 1am. We figured it out eventually, but half of the fun of that trip was all of the side adventures. I loved the privateer poem. Thanks for a great start to my Saturday! :)

Hi Sarah and Andrew. I really enjoyed the history of the church. The age of the buildings are fascinating to me. The flowers and the ocean were lovely. This hike was ambitious. Hi Sarah and Andrew, Fantastic video, probably my favourite walk in that St Austell book, the walk along the cliffs is fantastic there, Hallane Beach is a gem, I discovered it first doing another walk in that book which I can also recommend,, starting at Porthpean and involves walking down the beautiful lane through Trenarren down to Hallane Beach. The cottage just above the beach I guess is a hoñiday let, and must be one of the best situated in Cornwall! I also love the inland part of the walk, especially along the canal back to Pentewan, which in itself is a fascinating place. Many thanks.

Pentewan is a lovely little village with fascinating history. The coast path walk from Pentewan to Black Head changes from hidden enchanting woods with wooden bridges over streams, a beach, to spectacular views. The coast path walk in the opposite direction from Pentewan to Mevagissey is also lovely, but in places is steeper than the walk to Black Head! It is a beautiful part of the world.

Hi Andrew and Sarah, so good to see you in my neck of the woods 😋. Walked this path quite a few times in my life...but not the circular...just the coast. Walked from Charlestown to Pentewan and then back again once...it was a killer but very satisfying. I much prefer a circular like you guys, but even though I live in this area, I think I would get lost in the area you did 😁. I have approached this farm from the opposite direction before, but like you, felt like I was trespassing 😋....so hard to see where your supposed to go isn't it. I think the bitting dog might put me off too 😂. Really enjoyed hearing about the history of the area and that picture of the children in the train...just amazing and something to treasure..,thanks guys... really enjoyed this 👌💝😁😘

Been going to Pentewan on holiday for over 40 years and did the walk for the first time a couple of years ago. Definitely would advise setting off first thing and taking your time to enjoy the stunning scenery. When we did it we had to come off at a similar point as the path beyond had been closed due to a landslide. We didn't pay a visit to the beach, gutted now I've seen you video 😂😂. Thank you for bring back some happy and painful memories. The 280 feet was VERY steep. 😰

What a lovely little cove. Never been this way before. Challenging walk this time what with all those steps, ups and downs & getting lost with ''biting dogs'' to add to the drama! As for mentioning Cowes (not the moo-ey kind) I shall be there in 10 days time. In parts it's like a mini Cornwall on the IOW. But keeping fingers crossed that no petrol shortages in October this year to stop us getting back to Cornwall again. Lovely vid, even though it was a bit exhausting to watch you clambering up and down hill and dale! x J x

Another informative and interesting walk, thank you both. I am so tempted to make comments about your ability to count steps that you will never know how much self control it has taken not to do so. 🤣🤣🤣 Nice to see a bit of gate leaning, but Andrew is letting the side down with a severe lack of pasties. LOL. Myself and the current Mrs Miles will be back down in June but it is looking like I will not be able to relax because I will have so much to do. Counting the Lusty Glaze steps, walking the unwalkable path ( inland and coastal), and eating Andrew's share of the pasties. 😅😅😅. Keep up the great work, stay safe and healthy. Maybe we will meet up one day.👍👍
@CornishWalkingTrails
@CornishWalkingTrails 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard and Mrs Miles, thanks for your lovely comment, if Andrew did eat all those pasties he had better be careful leaning on the gate as it might collapse! Hope you make it down in June and thank you for your support. Tomorrows video is filmed in Port Isaac, and if you are looking for a decent pasty Andrew can recommend Nikki B's pasties in the village centre. Cheers Sarah & Andrew

Many thanks for posting this very watchable video Sarah and Andrew. It brings back some lovely memories of two holidays I had at Pentewan in the late 80s/early 90s. On the one holiday i had a self-catering flat on the second floor of that building you see at the harbourside. It has what appear to be garage doors, but it might be for storing boats. On the other holiday I cannot remember exactly where I stayed. It is a lovely old-fashioned Cornish village and from your video it has hardly changed since I last visited and I found found its history of a china clay port very interesting. Along the coast to the west was a large holiday camp, which I imagine is still there. Even though I was a lot fitter then, I didn't do those cliff walks !

As for boots, you should first of all make sure they're comfortable, but then quality comes into play. I found Meindl one of the best makes, but you have to look after them. If you're going in saltwater, you might be better off with leather and polish them with a preserving cream. If you can spot the sole falling off early that simply stick them back on with Superglue, industrial strength that you find in builders' suppliers. Some guys told me that, but it could be a load of cobblers. (My jokes can be as bad as yours, Andrew.)
