How could you not love a band that rhymes "put us all in detention" with "make us practice our Latin declension"? Upper Crust, indeed.

I used to be in a punk band and we played a special gig where it was just us and these guys. It was easily one of best gigs ever. They were awesome.

Stefan Ravello I would have been inspired and intimidated as fuck. I was in various punk bands. No punk band could touch these guys.

I once did a gig where they were on the bill before us. We rocked, but I fell in love with this band. That was early 1995 in NYC. I think at Brownies. Amazing.

"one of the best gigs...ever?" easy mate

@@iggypopisgod9 Having seen both bands live, I might be inclined to agree. But then I never considered Bad Brains a true punk band. They merely grew out of the punk scene. To me calling the Bad Brains a punk band is like calling Queen a glam band.

OMG! HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS BAND? THEY ARE THE COOLEST! I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE CURRENT BAND! (They will never replace my all time fav band, Mott the Hoople, or any of the other best glitter bands of the early 1970's, but their uniqueness thrills me no end!)

Seen them 3 times - Don Hills in '95 was the first, they blew my mind. Interviewed them for a zine at the Cat's Cradle, just the nicest bunch of guys. One of my favorite acts ever.

It is a downright dirty shame that this band is not more well-known. From what I've heard they've taken a long break...but check out Nat Freedberg's (Lord Bendover) new disc Record Number Three. Out now on Spotify, Apple, etc. If you are a fan of the Crust and his vocals you'll like this album.

I saw them at the old Crocodile about ten years ago. Eddie Spaghetti filled in on bass as "Lord Bendover". You don't really get the full affect in this video clip. Some of the best parts are them berating the "unworthy" crowd in between songs. If you have any chance at all to see them I strongly urge you to. These guys are the most fun you can have with your pants on.

I was one of those kids who only listened to weird public radio music shows growing up where all they played was either world music, folk, or ambient space stuff. Then I would switch over to the classical station or big band on the AM. That's all I knew about radio. I didn't discover punk until I was in college, so my natural entry point was The Clash's Sandinista!
@Tontileo8 жыл бұрын
We had a ridiculous embarrassment of riches as far as college radio went. If you look up the bloodlines of any of these guys you will stumble onto many great old Boston bands.
