Considering that AF 211 is an F-35B (which the U.S. Marines buy, but not the U,S, Air Force), I am surprised these two were mated together. The F-35B is quite different From the AirForce's F-35A. For example, it dedicates a lot of space to the vertical lift fan and its associated driveshaft & gearing for power extraction from the main engine. There's also its exit at the bottom and what's ducted out to the wings. This resulted in a smaller interior weapons storage area than on the Air Force F-35A or the Navy's F-35C. It also almost certainly required some internal structural frame changes

Just ask a Brits, how their military has been kept together with duct tape and glue because the government has been so cheap.

The same is true with the Canadian military.

Well the F-35B video showing the collapse front landing gear is the VSTOL Marine version and the accident did not happen at Eglin AFB. BUT I GUESS IT TAKES ALOT OF MODIFICATION TO JOIN A & B MODEL FRONT AND AFT CONSIDERING THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE IN COMMON IS THE LOOKS.🤔🤔

I believe Lockheed won the F-35 contract because their entry looked like an aircraft. Boeing design offering was goofy looking.

This is at Lockheed Martin in Ft Worth. The 1/3 scale F-35 on the platform at 1:07 in the video is at the southeast end of the runway. NAS JRB Ft Worth Texas (Carswell AFB where I was born in '71) I see that thing quit a bit fishing on Lake Worth. Home sweet home

This type of aircraft repair is not new. The USAF combined parts of several FB-111A aircraft to make tail number 7194 operational in the 1970's. I was the duty officer the night it crashed on the runway at Pease AFB, after which it sat in the hangar for months before being shipped to Depot Maintenance to be rebuilt. The maintenance troops called it Frankenvark. The aircraft type had the unofficial name of aardvark because of its long nose.

How is it possible to join the aft part of an F-35B and the forward part of a F-35A ?

The Nose Gear crash was a STOVL model, I believe they don't have a "A" designation in their name, it's A "B" designation, And "C" for the carrier variant.....💥👊💯😎

Thanks for the video that provided useful knowledge. Although the f-35 is a modern aircraft, it has been found to have 900 fault points, its computer software is its strong point, and researchers are working on fixing it. 🙂🙂🙂

This method of making a good vehicle from crash parts doesn't require a brilliant mechanic to pull off and will answer a lot of questions that would come up in the field

Half a jiffy here: isn't the vertical landing F-35 exclusive to the USMC and not the USAF?
@gregparrott2 күн бұрын
Yes, I posed the same concern. The F-35B is used by the Marines (although it's conceivable they bought a couple for evaluation and inan effort to devise new components that should be compatible on all F-35 variants) The lift fan and its ducting, require a LOT of space, which was certainly packed with something on the F-35A.Whatever SHOULD be there on an F-35A need to be installed, which likely requires very complex and different harnesses, mounting structures, components, etc.

The video of the vertical takeoff and landing at 35 having a mishap is not an Air Force aircraft. That one would belong to the British or the Marine Corps. The US Air Force is not operate. The version of the F 35 it takes off vertically..

This is a bad idea. Airplanes have been pieced together before and stress cracks were developed. There's structural sice g forces corrosion torque twisting and torsion that happens to aircraft in accidents,it needs to be applied when mating together. It's a safer bet to write off the aircraft and make two new ones.
