Just a note that other Western health care systems have many of the same problems, and increasingly so. The corporate-government response during the Covid in Australia was eye-opening. Also, the NHS in the UK has had many long standing problems and totally failed on Covid too. Then, if you need a low-end calibration point, learn something about health care in Quebec. Still, the US does seem to be the most corrupted of all, so you have a good point, especially if you still have the romantic viewpoint that the US should be doing better.
