Based on previously unpublished testimonies from Iraqis - former military personnel and leaders, civilians, future insurgents, journalists and opponents in exile - the film retraces in minute detail the decisive year of the invasion, with the stories of American military personnel and reporters present during the intervention as a counterpoint.

From the preparation at the borders to the capture of Saddam Hussein, Jean-Pierre Krief, a specialist in Iraq and author of Saddam Hussein, histoire d'un procès annonce, offers a real immersion in the events based on remarkable archival work. Previously unpublished images revealing American military operations from the inside, but also and above all the ceremonial scenes of a dictatorship totally mired in lies and unprepared for war.
By counterbalancing the official media scenario offered by the Americans, the film helps us understand how, from an easy war against a bloodless country, the United States found itself mired in a civil insurrection led by a disappointed people, whom they did not even try to understand and whom they pushed to revolt.
