Literally zero strategic level interest. No huge difference.
@aural_supremacy7 күн бұрын
I heard an interesting assessment from Scott Ritter this morning on Dialogue Works, this decision to green light longer range strikes is leading to: first this 6 missiles is a test to see what Russia will do in response, problem is that Russia is a legal nation (his words) and they really want a formal statement from the White House that this permission has been given but that hasn’t happened (deliberately) because Russian law requires it, so the six missiles are a test, if the Russians don’t respond in a significant way, Ukraine will get the storm shadows, the scalps and the ATCMs and fire a drone storm and a multiple missile attack into Russia and Poland will move troops into Western Ukraine effectively making Ukraine a de facto NATO member, this whole exercise is to provoke Russia to overreact, kill a whole lot of civilians and give an excuse for NATO troops to move in because Ukraines biggest problem is no soldiers.

The decision to throw these specialists into the trenches signals more than just manpower shortages-it’s the death knell of Ukraine’s capacity to sustain itself as a viable military player. If the specialists who once repaired helicopters and aircraft are now clutching rifles in mud-soaked trenches, who’s left to keep what remains of Ukraine’s military equipment operational? The symbolism here is rich: a country whose leaders sold their people on promises of NATO-backed strength is now so depleted that it’s cannibalizing its own critical workforce. What comes next? If highly skilled specialists are no longer exempt, the ripple effect will soon extend to every other sector. Doctors? Engineers? Scientists? The machinery of Ukrainian society is being ground into dust, sacrificed at the altar of a war that Kiev has already lost. And all the while, its Western patrons grow increasingly indifferent, their attention shifting to other theaters of geopolitical drama. The message is clear: Ukraine has been wrung dry, and now it' literally to the last Ukranian. For Russia, this is yet another vindication of its strategy. The strikes targeting Ukraine’s military-industrial capacity are achieving exactly what they were designed to do-systematically dismantling Kiev’s ability to wage war while exposing the hollowness of its Western-backed promises. The conscription of specialists is not a sign of resilience; it’s a glaring red flag that the system is collapsing. The question is no longer if but when Ukraine’s unsustainable mobilization policies will push the nation beyond the breaking point. - TheIslanderNews for Intel Republic

I want to thank for your briefings every day. You put a lot of effort into it. Though you sound younger it seems that you have been to war collage and you were an Officer. You know a lot about tactics, planning and weaponry. you always seem to strive to give balanced analysis while remaining neutral. Thank you, it is a welcome departure from the drivel that we normally get from the news sources in the west that seem to be more propaganda than anything factual.

Wire controlled drones are not new. They are just an adaption suitable for short range strikes. How far they can reach depends on the length of the cable that can be rolled up onto a reel on board of the drone. The ukrainians are doing the same. You are a little restricted in the maneuvers that you are able to conduct in the target area. The first news about their use stem from the beginning of 2024.

there were maybe only 180 or 200 ATACMS in existence prior to this war. This wasn't a system that was cost effective or useful to the USA. Germany doesn't have sufficient Taurus to send significant amounts. UK doesn't have sufficient Storm Shadoiw to send significant amounts. France doesn't have sufficient SCALP to send significant amounts. Only the US has significant amounts of cruise missiles - but procurement of Tomahawks has been less than 80/yr and the plan in the Navy was to upgrade block 4 to block 5 and to scrap most of the older missiles...meaning inventories are now low. Naval analysts talk about this- production has not kept pace with use by Navy in stupid wars. As an example of their effectiveness, it took 13 tomahawks to destroy a radio relay tower in Bosnia. Against various "chemical weapons facilities" in Syria, you will see 30 of them used. The US may have - may - a couple 1000 JASSMs. This sounds like a lot of equipment just like the million 155mm HE shells the US had seemed inexhaustible. But it really isn't. Given the half ton warhead of the Tomahawk and JASSM; for comparison, RF drops 100+ 1/2 ton or higher explosives on AFU on a DAILY BASIS in the form of FABs. The AFU is still there.
