For the money this is a great vest with many uses, from hiking, emergency use, ham radio, combat shooting sport, search and rescue, police, it can be set up to carry what you need. You can even make custom Velcro pouches. Better than what I had when I was in the service some many years ago. The video is great learned a few things. Very well done.

Thanks for your review of this vest from a law enforcement perspective. I'm not in law enforcement myself but was looking for a good vest for hunting, or possibly for a home defense scenario. The fact that you use this vest on the job makes me feel that this vest would be a worthy candidate for my philosophy of use. Thanks for taking the time to put this review together for us. I also want to thank you for your service; particularly in light of the recent unjust negative press the media has given to law enforcement. My life has been saved more than once by law enforcement troopers. Being a type one diabetic, there have been times when the police got to me before the EMT teams arrived. On another occasion, I was driving while undergoing a hypoglycemia, and was thankfully pulled over by a caring policeman. You men and women never know what you're next call may involve and again I want to thank you for your service.

I do agree with the thumbbreak option. But I lack experience with this whole type of rig and was curious if it was more of a wearable duffle bag with a lot of junk on it or a well designed piece of equipment.
@hrfunk8 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you could find opinions making either assertion. All I can say is it has worked well for me, and I think the price is pretty reasonable for the performance you get. Shockingly, since I posted this video 2 and a half years ago, no one has stated that these vests are junk. I was expecting to get flamed by the "if you don't have a ___________, then whatever you do have is crap" crowd.

Nice set up! I realize this is an old video and I am just going through all of your videos one at a time trying to watch as many as I can. If I were to have any constructive criticism comments it would simply be to add a couple CAT tourniquets, 2 IFAKs with a couple chest seals and a Sam Splint.

question about the vest I got the same one but in black any idea how to make it a bit bigger in the sides my straps are all the way adjusted out I would like some more room any ideas I'm 6'6 built like a line backer
@hrfunk7 жыл бұрын
Wow, you must be big if it still won't fit. The only thing I could think of would be to replace the straps with longer ones. Or maybe remove them altogether and attach the vest to the belt (if that fits). If it's anchored to the belt, that should keep it from flopping around.
@dvsdnaa10 жыл бұрын
You didn't mention the belt. I see you don't have it on either. Is it that it did not come with it?

Καλοψημενο Τοστ Yes, in fact it holds AK mags better then AR mags. The pouches are deep so AR mags kinda sink down in them. They are still accessible though I would recommend pull tabs on AR mags. AK mags sit well in reach.
@tvan7188 жыл бұрын
That is the same exact setup at the chinese made Yakeda tac vest for paintball. What type of deployments have you been on with that vest? Sounds like you're pretty serious about your gear. How much does that crossdraw rig slow you down when you've had to shoot someone?
@hrfunk8 жыл бұрын
For all I know, they might have been made in the same factory. In any event, it has worked well for me. I've never had to shoot anyone, and if I gave you the idea I have, I apologize, it was unintentional. I have however, deployed with this vest on multiple operations as a law enforcement Sniper and it has worked quite well. Obviously, the handgun is a back-up weapon under such circumstances, so quick-draw handgun work is unlikely. I do wish the holster had a thumb-break to make for a quicker draw in the event it was needed in a hurry. On the other hand, the holster as is has held my pistol securely during some pretty long crawls through weeds, brush, briars, etc. Reference your question about the radio, I run the cord up over my back.I have a PTT switch I secure to my left shoulder and a selection of transmitter/receiver options (i.e. throat mic, bone mic, boom mic) to select depending upon the environment (and the amount of background noise).

Great jod on your video thanks for the vest run down. not sure why the manufacturer would mount rifle magazines on the right side of the vest? Assuming your right handed wouldn't it be a pain to reach & stumble around while reloading. But thats just my opinion.
@hrfunk9 жыл бұрын
+Telly Pea I've never noticed a major problem with the mag pouches. I suspect they thought the pistol would be more easily accessible on the left side (i.e. cross draw) for a right handed operator. It would probably help lefties if they made it so the holster and mag pouches could be swapped.
