Vaast now offers a 2x Shimano version for only $1,900 with 11 x 36 casette and 48 x 32 crankset. That should satisfy your single track needs as well as your road needs.

I did this build last year....went with the SRAM force AXS 12 speed with 40t on the front and a 10 to 50t in the back. also went with the redshift stem and seatpost for a bit os suspension for my old back. seriously is one of the best bikes I have ever owned and Im loving is a year latter just s much as I did on the first ride.

Oh! The Redshift is a great idea!! What wheels are you using?

@@cyclecrafttv BTW the ride weight is at about 23 pounds with the redshift stem and seatpost. Both are heavy so not recommended if you ride weight is a thing for you.

@@ToddWBucy-lf8yz That's not bad at all considering the weight of comparable Gravel bikes with suspension elements

The new Vaast frames support 2x setup, which is better for the road due to smaller gaps between gears (and greater top speed). Once you have a 2x capable frame, here is how I'd equip it to maximize the fun factor: SRAM Force AXS groupset: Chainring: 46/33 Cassette: 10/36 Wheels: Reyonolds BLACKLABEL ATR for gravel. 40c tires. Reynolds BLACKLABEL AERO 46 DB for road. 28c or 32c tires. Garmin Rally XC200 pedals. Garmin speed sensor. Garmin cadence sensor.

But that gearing doesn't lend itself to single track rides! Yes, probably better for road but I need more versatility.
