Well done on the build and the detailed build guide. Easy to follow and I like the ship! My favorite cockpit. I set it up for ship take over duty. About to test it now. Thanks! Quick word about weapons. Particle beam such as the PB-175 Helion Beam. The power of the beam is not determined by the pips in the energy allocation area. The damage is constant. The pips determine the recharge rate. If you use the Auto Helion Beam then you have about 30 to 40 shots before you need recharge, the regular Helion Beam recharge between each shot and that makes them slower firing. This means the Helion Beams can fire continuously but at a slower rate where as the Auto Helion Beams can fire faster but only for a limited time. Also, putting 12 pips in the energy allocation for any type of Particle beam is wasting pips. More than 8 or 9 pips doesn't gain you anything but maybe 1 - 2% faster reload speed. Not even noticeable. Save those pips for shield, EM or Engine power. Easy to test this. Install an Auto Helion Beam and a normal Helion Beam. Put 1 pip in each one. Both fire with full damage but the auto will fire faster until the "magazine" is depleted. The normal Helion Beam will fire very slowly. Then, time the pulses from the Helion beam at 3, 6, 9 and 12 pips. 8 to 9 is the sweet spot. Same applies to the recharge rate of the Auto Helion Beam.

Great point about the weapons. I definitely have to do some hard core math to work out if the PB's or the PBOs are better in the longer run. All I know is the PB's rarely have let me down. Let me know how your testing goes. I can definitely get some more speed out of mine if I had Sam on my crew, and my engine systems skill is only rank 2.

Dropping to B class for the reactor and grav drive would shave a lot of weight off. 58 for the reactor alone and 64 for the grav drive. If 122 isn't enough savings you could swap the fuel tank for a pair of M50's(500 fuel for 50 mass compared to 650 fuel for 60 mass). Technically as long as you hit 28 light years you can travel to any star on the map, so that's the magic number for adding cargo afterward. If you wanted to make up for any lost crew capacity 4 Hunter Mag missiles with even 1 pip of power is fine: they have 10 shots in their magazine.

Good recommendations. This is an older build. If you want to see an updated speed build, my Raiju build makes this one look slow (Though it is a modded build).

Very nice build. Reminds me of my 'Icarus Interceptor. Only I kept mine to Class B (lighter weight engineering section). Long range Particle Beam weapons, thrust away from battle, quick thruster turn to fly backwards, and open fire. Class B weapons are plenty even on higher difficulties. Keep up the good work. Thank you for sharing. Look forward to more.

@DreddPirateRoberts9 ай бұрын
I especially like your choice of weapons. I, too, prefer the slower firing weapons, because I get three or four (depending on their max power) of them they'll fire hella fast and never get tired if I fully power them. And just recently switched out the stock EM weapons on the Star Eagle for the ones you chose. (They were nice, but 6 max power a piece didn't afford me much flexibility.)
@TeamScorpioRI9 ай бұрын
Thanks! My thought is the slower rate of fire allows me to control the shots a little more. On a full out fighter style build, where I am just trying to destroy everything, then the faster rate is better. But on this, where I want to just get through the shields, I seem to have more luck with these.

I don't play the game... I would love to do "JUST" shipbuilding. However, it seems like it is Volii.... and not Vol 2... there would be a space and those "i" would always be capitalized if they were Roman numerals.

Awesome build, and an awesome video! Though most people who do build videos go to Neon to go to the Stroud-Eklund showroom and/or the Taiyo location in Ryujin Tower, you're the first person I've seen who just went to the ship technician. PS: "Vol 2" *Volii Those aren't Roman numerals. If they were it would read "Vol II," or "Vol-II."
@TeamScorpioRI9 ай бұрын
You could go inside and hit the showroom, but I figured the tech doesn't get enough love... and yeah, I now know it's Volii. From when I started the game I saw it from the star map, which is all cap. My brain just thought "who puts two "i" 's at the end of the word and interpreted it as Vol II. I corrected it in my next video.
@DreddPirateRoberts9 ай бұрын
@@TeamScorpioRI I hear ya. Speaking of ship technicians, how funny is it that the ship tech on Mars is dressed to look like Buzz Lightyear? LOL And yeah, Roman numerals _are_ used pretty generously on the star map. Would be really swell if BGS gave us a search function for the damned thing.

Love this! I've been looking for inspiration for building a smaller ship with that bridge, and I think I'm gonna use yours as a template. Only things I would do differently are to add a second fuel tank in the spot where you put the grav drive (I know it most likely doesn't need it, but I like things like the fuel tanks to be symmetrical, lol), then put the grav drive where you put the reactor, and place the reactor behind the grav drive. It would fill in that gap between the engines nicely, and give you a nice view of the reactor if you fly in 3rd person. Just a heads-up, you need to add Starship Design level/rank 4 to the requirements in the description, since you can't have those engines or the reactor without it. Lol. Also, it's the UC Vanguard quest line you need to have done (at least until after the mission "Grunt Work") to have the Vanguard ship parts and weapons, not the SysDef.
@TeamScorpioRI10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I'll add those to the description. The SysDef quest line I guess would technically be the Crimson Fleet questline? I always started that line by going through the Vanguard, but its different from the main Vanguad quests (terrormorphs).. so I always referred that as the SysDef quests (since that is who you are working for).
@kasper_42910 ай бұрын
@@TeamScorpioRI Yeah, the SysDef quest line is the Crimson Fleet quest line. If you're like me, you end up betraying SysDef so you have access to The Key and Crimson fleet items, so I just call it the Crimson Fleet quest line, lol. The Vanguard/Terrormorph quest line is the one you get the exclusive ship parts from (like the shield you used), which is/are only available after completing the "Grunt Work" mission in the Vanguard quest line. You also get some of, if not the best A class particle beam weapons in the game, the Vanguard Obliterators.
@TeamScorpioRI10 ай бұрын
@@kasper_429 I usually side with SysDef. I find it weird that when you side with the CF, really nothing happens. Like the UC is unbothered that you just blew up their #1 ship. Lol... that being said, the CF characters are some of the best written ones in the game. It really is a great quest line.
@kasper_42910 ай бұрын
@@TeamScorpioRI Yeah true, it is weird that the UC are unbothered by your presence after you betrayed them. I agree, that quest line, and the Vanguard quest line are probably the best-written ones in the game. Also, people love to argue that "You can't fight anyone in space because the CF ships don't attack you anymore", but just go to a random system and you'll no-doubt find either Ecliptic, Spacer, or Va-Ruun Zealot ships already there. There's plenty of space dogfighting to be had, even if you do side with the Fleet.

Cool build, but there is no way you need that much fuel for such a light ship and it’s just wasted mass. With such low maneuvering thrust you really need to make the most of it. Grav drive is probably overkill too.
@TeamScorpioRI7 ай бұрын
The fuel and grav drive can definitely be swapped out. Even if you wanted to stay class C for the jump range, there are lighter options than the J52 Gamma Grav Drive. For fuel, surprisingly the 900t is fairly efficient with the weight/fuel ratio, but if you don't need that much fuel (and don't mind multiple jumps to those high end systems, then there are lighter options.

What engines are you using to get that 280 speed. I don't think one should count bonuses and crew enhancements for speed and cargo comparisons. You can use them, but really just optimize the build for the components and let the user decide their own bonuses later.
