Bedard is not NHL Ready at this point. He has of course lots of skill visible on the PP, 3 on 3 and the odd time he has open ice , but I have yet to see anyone so soft on the puck in the corners and in battles in the league. Tocchet would have sent Bedard down to Abbotsford a long time ago. Stankhoven and Michkov are both young and small but at 5 on 5 can go into the corners and win puck battles and create space for themselves and are not defensive liabilities like Bedard. I believe even with his 60+ points last year he was in the bottom 3 or 4 players in the league for plus minus even though there were players on his team like Jason Dickinson with semi respectable plus minus ratings.

He literally never has the puck and doesn't seem to know where to go without it. Good NHL players seem to have the puck a lot. He also is incredibly easy to knock off the puck. Michkov is far above him at this point
