How about setting aside a small parcel of land for a fitting memorial? Have an archeological dig for artifacts, set up a small museum for public viewing and to honor those who died. Then go ahead and develop the land. If, in the process, human remains or other artifacts are found, preserve them and place them appropriately. When a person dies, eventually, their belongings are distributed, donated, or disposed of, their remains are buried and a plaque or headstone erected, ashes kept or scattered in accord with last wishes, (hopefully). When a loved one clings, year after year, to the deceased’s earthly effects, unable to move on, it is mentally unhealthy. Preserving the past is important, but you can’t live in it.

That's wild they had Black man talking Lost Cause nonsense for an hour. And no mention at all that the war was fought over slavery. Nothing on the perspective of the descendants of slavery on preserving these battlefields.
