I don't remember the story, but I think the vat thing you referenced from the story didn't actually hate beauty, she just considered everything hideous. It was a great story. I read a small collection of Vance stories in my personal quest of going through Appendix N. It's been a fun experience.

T'sais did hate all things beautiful, yet she also hated all things ugly. Everything she perceived infuriated her. Hers is a very cool story, my favourite from the original collection of short stories. Her quest to heal her "condition" was very fulfilling.

I was going to start running DCC shortly, and was stuck on how slowly characters heal. You mentioned in your video you use a different rule about resting. What do you do in your games? Did you cover that in a pervious video?

There is a popular alternate rule about resting. Short rest = 8h, long rest = 1 week.

Yeah I started playing with the idea of rolling hit dice on an 8 hour rest and healing that amount. But it has almost always resulted in full heals. So then we shifted to just healing to full. At higher levels the healing 1 HP on a long rest works better but at levels 1 or 2 it is brutal (which is why we changed it). Now at level 6 rolling 6d8 to heal on a short rest just feels dumb most of the time, and they should just go to full. Stat Damage I keep at 1 point of stat healing on a rest. Probably a good video topic (my custom rules for DCC).
