People know very little of history or cultural back ground of the area. I've always enjoyed the history and cultural side of that part of the world. The terrible suffering during the second world war. Ukraine and Poland, indeed the boarders changed many times, and twenty six million died mostly civilians in the last war. The extent of the changes in recent history of Russia Ukraine and the surrounding counties and cultural groups. What looks like a very successful on going Russian intelligence operation in the UK and the West. What will be revealed in the future ? I wonder ? The Vatniks are alive and well in our post modernist society, the problem with this video is what the professor said himself, he sees it in a black and white binary position. Its not like that at all, you really have to take in History and the death of Ideology (Francis Fukijama) and western expansionism since 1990 to see and understand the terrible conflict in Ukraine, the geopolitics, the self interests etc. But this position of Putin bad everyone else good and more is sadly to say, total bollocks, you need to also understand Russia from before the October revolution pre 1917 to also know why Putin is in power, how Russia thinks, its a Civilisation state unlike our new relative post modernist west that's lost its civilisation, indeed civilisation states like China, Iran, India Russia are growing while ours are decreasing and falling. Since 1990 NATO has plated the expansionist card contrary to Russia's interests, Ukraine is simply a player state with a corrupt Slavic elite willing to destroy itself for Western expansionism and interests. The problem with taking sides-ideology is that you have, whether its left or right, pro Ukraine or pro Russia is that you have to buy into 'all' of it, without exception, every bit of Ideology like a cult, the professor with his academic career should have known this as one of the golden rules of cognitive thought. Never allow your own opinions to be pushed as fact. That's what vatniks do.

@@ProfessorTimWilson No, I have contacts in Central Asia and the Russian Federation. I have managed to keep the Russian links by being neutral. One of the problems is many Russians fear they will go back to the Yeltsin years of chaos if Putin leaves office. A problem the West does not address is the post-Putin era, which cannot be far off and the West needs to address the Russian fears of the post-Putin era. My sources are fed all sorts of stories including not just that Nato is providing arms but also troops to fight for the Ukrainians. You are right there is a lot of propaganda and at the beginning of the war, they thought it was going to be a seven days war, they seem to have kept conscription to remote areas and prisons, I was told of one person who feared going to prison for debt as he be sent to Ukraine and one suspect's many fear going as conscripts is a death sentence. But to oppose the war is to be a traitor, so critics have started saying that life was better in Soviet times.

I'm sure peace talks will happen when old man Putin gets down on his frail knees and begs for peace. Let's be realistic he'll be six feet under before anything like that happens. It won't be long now, no amount of make up and plastic surgery can hide his age. It won't just be the West waiting for that glorious day, think of all those Oligarchs, Generals and Politicians who want some of that Putin Power. They will tear themselves apart and sadly will butcher most of Russia too. It's just a waiting game....
