I read that you can't use you phone/android auto while the app is in use but is the app always in use? If it's recording to SD card, why would it need the app while you are driving if you aren't downloading files while you are driving? I'm trying to figure out if this will work for me but I need to be able to use android auto while I'm driving so that's a deal breaker.

The phone app is only if you want to review footage. It’s entirely self contained and records to SD card.

The wifi connection is only needed to change settings, watch live video or download videos. If you aren't doing any of those, then it will run on its own.

When I try to turn this dashcam off while it's still plugged into the cigarette lighter, it just says it's locked. THe power button doesn't even work. I don't really recommend this device.

Somehow my car was able to record live while it is off. I use the cigarette plug that it came with. Video quality is blurry imo when downloaded through the app. Not sure if it is better if I downloaded it straight from the MicroSD card though as I haven't tried that method.

That port might not turn off when you shut off the car. Just watch out not to let it drain your car battery.

I have the V100, it's okay. Downloading clips is extremely slow, it buffers a lot while playing. It takes over my phone Soni can't Google anything or do anything that needs internet unless I disconnect it from wifi( I'm a passenger) it records sound, if the spot you plug it into has power when your vehicle is shut off it still records... so far the 1 thing I hate about it is I cannot access it if the vehicle is not in my driveway. It will only connect to its own wifi from the app. I just now found this out when I went to view it, my boyfriend went to visit his cousin in the mountains of Kentucky and he should have been there by now so I opened the app to view the dash cam to see if he made it, I can not view anything as it won't bring up the wifi for the camera since it's not near my phone. Had I known this I would have just gotten the kind that has its own screen and doesn't need wifi or an app to work

If your vehicle has rhe spot to plug it in that has power to it even when your vehicle is off, then no. I have V100 of this camera ours records 24-7 so as it sits in my driveway it records my side door and part of my backyard

Does it constantly record one minute segments and upload to the app and then automatically delete them if you don't download?

It does not save them to the phone so the issue is unless you are close enough to connect to the camera via wifi you cannot access the videos. If you car is stolen, you are out of luck as videos are saved locally.

I’d say 64gb is a good value. I recently tested six different cards live and the high endurance wasn’t only the most durable it beat the extreme on speed. Thanks for watching!

Hello! It will record while parked if your car has power to the cigarette lighter. Wi-Fi is not required to record. Wi-Fi is used between the phone and the device to view videos, preview what it sees, change settings, and download files. It creates its own Wi-Fi hotspot but has no internet. I hope that helps!

@BraddahGreg yes, it can. As long as you have a strong battery and a USB port, or cigarette lighter port, that does not turn off automatically.
