The scripture for our reading is from the book of Job 1 & 2. Job was a man from Uz who was blameless and upright. He feared the Lord and shunned evil. He was known and respected in his town. He was also rich.
He owned ox, sheep, donkeys, camels and had lots of servants working in his house.
Job had seven sons and three daughters.
His children liked throwing parties and the boys would invite their sisters to attend those parties at their houses. The children would celebrate and have fun.
But their father was worried thinking that when the children are having those parties they curse the Lord in the process.
After the party season Job would call the children to his house to have them purified. He would also prepare a burned offering as a sacrifice to God.
Satan was not happy with the favour and privileges that Job was receiving from God.
When God indicated that Job was blameless and upright in the eyes of God satan said Job is only upright because of the favour he is getting from God.
Satan suggested that Job should be put to a test. God agreed that satan can test Job by taking all that Job owned and Satan rushed put Job to that test.
Satan was disappointed because Job passed the test. God showed Satan that Job is loyal regardless of the fact that he owned nothing.
Satan suggested another test on Job's body. God agreed to the second test.
Job became sick and he was at the verge of dying.
God came to his rescue and healed him.
After the tests Job received doubled his riches and had more children. He also found a new wife because the first one left him when he was sick and poor.
The book of Job indicates that adversity, obstacles and challenges are not to be feared. After adversities we will receive lots of abundance. That is the law of rhythm (law of the Universe)
