@barrett402 You sure about that? According to an article by Paul Williams in the Velvet Underground Companion Book, it's about trying to rouse a girl from an amphetamine overdose. Yet what's being described, while it could be a heroin overdose being described, it really doesn't fit a meth or speed overdose.

Pure New York City during the most creative period in music, in art, in movies and yes fashion. What an amazing time for freedom of expressing ones self. I never ever tire of the music and artists who flourished during these times. However there were casualties of the times that who knows where they may have gone. RIP Johnny Thunders, Edie Sedgwick and many more. And Dear Lou wherever you are myself and countless others are forever grateful for your legacy. May every day be a Perfect Day.

'Later For You Baby' by The Solitaires (1955) on 'Old Town Records 1015'. The song was written by Paul Winley, but some sources say 'M Weinstein and Paul Winley' and published by 'Embassy Music Corporation'. While Hy Weiss has been credited on over 50 songs, Paul Winley's 'Later For You Baby' is not one of them. It seems the closest association Hy Weiss has to the song is that it was released on his label Old Town Records, whose catalog was sold to Atlantic in 1970. It doesn't seem likely his involvement will be explained. Did he have a controlling interest in Embassy Music Corporation? Was 'M Weinstein' a pseudonym? Did Paul Winley ever see any royalties from this? By the way, some other doo-wop songs Lou Reed liked (or suggested he liked) were -- 'Smoke From Your Cigarette' by The Mellows (featuring Lillian Leach) 'I Need a Sunday Kind of Love' by The Harptones 'The Wind' and 'If I (Could Be With You Tonight)' and 'The Way You Dog Me Around' by The Diablos (featuring Nolan Strong) The Spaniels (who had a hit with 'Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight', though Lou might have favored another of their songs) 'Florence Don’t Leave Me' and 'Kneel And Pray' by The Paragons 'Sally Green' and 'Come And Let Me Show You' and 'Please Let Me Love You' by The Jesters 'Too Late' and 'I Knew From The Start' and 'What Are You Going To Do' by The Moonglows 'Peppermint Stick' by The El Chords 'Crying In The Chapel' by The Orioles 'Pledging My Love' by Johnny Ace 'Coney Island Baby' by The Excellents

This is maybe the best idea we can get of what _Loaded_ would have been like with Moe on the drums. This is also one reason I prefer the Doug Yule era. I don't think I even want to know how John Cale would have approached the bass on this song. Yule's playing is very fluid and groovy, using lines that may not be 100% original, but they sure feel good. A copy of this recording should be sent into outer space.

+Rodrigo Romero Just to be fair, one could argue that the Cale-era band were never recorded in good quality. To a newbie with modern tastes, the first two albums could sound unlistenable, at first. I didn't take to them right away, myself. But they drew me in soon enough!

the most important band in the music history, all the other bands are one step lower even stones-beatles-p floyd. velvets aproach to music is a lot more honest and raw in every sense.the fact that in their time they didn t knew any success made more interesting at least for me.any of the today musicians wish to write a song in this level.the beat and the guitar noise are a trademark of the velvets an it is the most imitated sound in the past 50 years.no band emerged in the last 50 years could be as awesome and creative like the velvet underground.

I was in 6th grade when my brothers band , " the five steps down" were practicing and I still distinctly remember the band talking about the "Velvet Underground". I was suddenly in that instance concious of the power of words. The band member Bob Garson was saying that this was a new sound, but for me I became hung up on the image that " velvet underground " created in just those words. Suddenly I became intrigued with words and the power of imagry they held for me. It was a moment in time I have never forgotten. I can see and even smell at times that sudden realization those words had. The five steps down; a name that I also like disbanded, my brother became a writer, Bob went on to play bass for " the strawberry alarm clock", with thier hit " Incense and peppermint " and I continue to be fascinated with words. I sit on the toilet with a 5 pound dictionary, sometimes for an hour or more. I write and hope to leave some words behind for posterity. A few years later after my word epiphany I heard the Velvets music and they have my highest rating.
