On the first leg of my South African Tribes Tour, I explore the Venda tribe and its customs, language, food and culture. I’m hosted by the Masibigiri family in a village called Tshilapfene in the Venda region of the Limpopo Province in South Africa. Watch as I pick my way through language barriers, new experiences and scary places.
A very special thanks to Muneyi, Makhulu, Makhadzi, Muneyi’s mom, Pande, Dakalo, Thendo and my parents.

The content of the video + your narration sprinkled in with your comedic timing is a gift and something we've desperately been missing in this space. And while the video is very educational, well-made and edited it still feels informal and tangible. It's not trying to be overly fancy or something its not. A job well done friend - looking forward to more! :)

Hi, in Tshivenda, Muroho it's a name we call every leafy green, although they do have their separate identity, in this video if I am not mistaken she used phuri, muxe, vhuluvha(flowers) to make mukusule, which is(dried muroho), it take 3-5 days to dry in the sun, after its done drying we cook it with onion, tomato, well atlest that's what I like, but we can also eat it uncooked with salt and vhuswa(pap) since it's already cooked, very delicious, with an earthy flavor. Hope it helps.

The Morogo\Muroho part. she felt you might not understand and generalize all without their specific names, there is Morogo\Muroho wa Thanganga, Morogo\Muroho wa Vowa, Morogo\Muroho wa nngu, Morogo\Muroho wa delele and many more. then the dried one is called Mukusule and can be specified deppenging on what Morogo\Muroho was dried . Mukusule wa Thanga, Mukusule wa khavhishi and so on. when fresh is Muroho and when dried its called Mukusule

Mavhele is what we Tswana people call Mabele. Not the same as corn, but, look almost identical while they are still plants. One is used to make mielie meal & the other you eat as is
@vhenganinemalili2051
@vhenganinemalili2051 Жыл бұрын
So it appears that us Vendas use the words interchangeably. Usually Vhuswa ha mavhele just means the one that we plant ourselves and process until it is mealie meal ( from corn). Whereas what you are probably referring to mabele is Sorghum (brown in colour?)
@LM-he7eb
