On this day in 1966 {April 2nd} the Ventures performed "Secret Agent Man" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'... Two months earlier on February 26th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #54 and spent 7 weeks on the Top 100... Johnny Rivers' vocal version entered the Top 100 on March 19th and reached #3... The TV series of the same name premiered on March 7th but only ran for 12 episodes... R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...
