The casings are a scuffed mechanic, but wouldn't change the verdict of possession as judge described. However, it does set an interesting precedent. Stolen PD guns if found on any person, will have a tough time proving that it was planted, even if they were not GSR positive that day.

If i remember correctly the other scuffed part was he didn't even get to shoot at all visually because of the phone (I didn't have audio I was on my phone) but visually and literally did not shoot nor do any damage...so how did he get gsr positive? Or if the gun worked properly he could've killed the NPC and wouldn't be here at all so I feel like there wasn't any reason to search him at all, and the gsr either shouldn't have been positive or that whole situation shouldn't even have been a thing if it wasn't for the phone animation... I'm not arguing with u I'm just genuinely curious because I missed most of the whole situation

As it turned out, yes. In logic, no. He was unconscious and bleeding with gunshot wounds on the ground before they showed up to a call about someone brandishing/shooting a gun. Immediately GSR testing the guy bleeding out is weird af, but I digress. The main point is that there is literally no way to prove the gun wasn't planted on him, or even grabbed from the assailant in a struggle. Especially when the main argument from the judge insisting that the burden of proof is on him to prove he it was planted and not stolen is due to the fact that no casing or anything were on the floor, given that he was loaded with gunshot wounds and bleeding on the ground. What, he shot himself?

In real life he would have the gsr in the hands in a position and quantity according to shooting a gun. There would be a lack of gsr in his body where he would have been shot "point blank", etc. That would be easily proved fake in a rl scenario if the scene is handled accordingly.

You are now in criminal possession of a government issued firearm, 30k fine, GSR positive and a witness putting you at the scene of the crime. Its stupid that all the burden falls on criminals because of server limitation when they lose everything if they lose and cops lose nothing.

Why Bullet Casings couldve made a innocent verdict possible. 1. Was only GSR tested because of a shots fired call (from locals) 2. Arriving at the scene and seeing no casings would put JP as a victim not a suspect. Because in character the cops have no forsenic evidence, they basically can make hollow decisions and assumptions. 3. Subsequent actions wouldve played out differently and the burden of circumstantial proof would be on the plantiff in this situation 4. Even if they did do GSR test you can argue against its legitimacy based on forsenic evidence after the fact if it existed. Solution is to remove GSR testing until Bullet casings forensic evidence is added

The burden of proof would be on the cops if they had bullet casing mechanics, this is because of course that JP can argue the GSR tests legitimacy in this case because in his story he was dumpster diving and had used gloves on he found. Because there is NO forsensic evidence, in character they basically can make broad and direct assumptions about the specifics of what happened. Just because the GSR tested positive doesnt mean guilty, but the fact you cant argue it in character due to no forensic evidence that is why he lost. Imagine this scenario, the cops GSR test him and Forensic Evidence exists in the game (in that, you can see shell casings etc around the scene of a crime) and they find none at the scene. How does this incriminate JP? Well it doesnt, because theres no proof that he shot a gun on that scene only that he has residue on the gloves hes wearing. They have no way of tying a positive GSR test to the scene of the incident IF forsenics existed.
