Oh hell yea. Nick in particular is just amazing to me. I've never heard another guitar player make the kinds of sounds he dose with his guitar during live performances. Si is a damn good bass player (and I love his excitement/enthusisasim on stage, esp at the Glastonbury concert). And Pete is a rock solid drummer. All together with Richard they formed a truly special band, such a shame they can't seem to get along (rumors always seem to suggest big problems between Nick and Richard, although I read Si hasn't spoken to Richard in a few years either).

@@xiaoxia5 Yea. No one but the band members and those close to them will no the full story probably. But the rocky history and multiple breakups of the verve is usually blamed on issues between Richard and Nick. I remember reading somewhere, and I think this was from Nick him self, that after one show (when they were touring for urban hymns, sometime before Nick left of course) the night ended with Nick having a broken finger and Richard a swollen nose lol. I've also read that things were not always smooth between Richard and Si either. Apparently neither Nick or Si have spoken to Richard in years.
@supershedseven
@supershedseven Жыл бұрын
@@sean8102 The final rift in the band became mainly between Si and Richard whilst Nick didnt really have any beef the 3rd and final time round. Nick actually rang Richard to see if he wanted to do something around the 25th year since U.H. and didnt phone him back. Nick said he spoke to Kate on the phone and had a good chat but it never got a response, but Si seemed a lot more annoyed this time around and i thought i read it was something to do with wives. Si was very annoyed at the way Richard ended it this time around because he never would say anything and then rather than speak face to face with the band about the end, he released a statement out online. From my understanding Pete also hasnt spoke to Richard since and he was his solo drummer until Verve reformed but never returned when Richard decided to go back to his solo career.

I only heard and remember bittersweet symphony being really popular for a bit one summer growing up. But I was 8 at the time and live in the US. Anyway. Fast forward to me when I'm like 21 or 22. I discover the verve. Through Marley and me of all things lol. Just ended up watching that with my girlfriend at the time thankfully. As for being gutted that I know there is basically zero chance I will ever see them live in person . God I couldn't agree more man.

First album I was turned on to was A Storm in Heaven in my teen years early mid 90s. The Verve was set apart to me. I felt that they had harnessed psychedelic rock for our generation as pinkfloyd did I. The 70's. Soooo many trips with friends and the Verve playing as the soundtrack.

As I grew up listening to The Bee Gees, Alan Parsons Project, Carole King, America, Beatles, Kansas, a basic classical music collection from Deutsche Gramophon, Roberto Carlos, Vangelis, etc... and I consider myself lucky for that, Undoubtely I'd show The Verve to my children, If I had.

They really were so special together and i particularly love the early verve when they had a less commercial psychedelic sound. M c Cabe really had his own unique style that compliments Richard and the rest of the band. Im surprised they werent bigger in the USA and theyre every bit as good as Oasis.

Got this included with the Urban Hymns Deluxe box set, but glad others can experience this. Saw the Verve for the UH tour at the Warfield in San Francisco Nov. 20, 1997: they were a great live band and Nick McCabe in particular was a revelation. Such a shame this band couldn't keep it together to put out more albums - too short a career.

Yeah this is ripped form the DVD that came with the deluxe box set. I put everything it came with back in the box and sealed in a bag. After ripping this and the CD's to FLAC. The included book was a fun read, esp since interviews with these guys are so hard to come buy (esp Nick, Simon, and Pete).
