Bittersweet is cynical, but this one has the Holy Spirit's love, forgiveness, insight, mercy and truth in it. He visits artists and raises them into transcendant mode, whether they know or not.

Bittersweet was at least partly licensed (and famed for the label SUED for allegedly exceeding the license) from a Stones song. The opening part of the music from this song is "Lay, Lady, Lay" by Dylan with some extra guitar work (hopefully Bob's song was licensed or credited). I'm NOT impressed with the originality of "The Verve".

Years ago I was absent from the previous world of my memories, confusional state and spiritual transport, even the music seemed far away in the mists of time .. But then after a long time I found my 12 string in a basement .. and after having restored it being a little girl of the 70s .. she repaid me with a wonderful sound that brought me back to my adolescence ... and I immediately played these 4 chords as in ecstasy .. as a distant memory of my memory, ... and it was this wonderful story..Lucky Man..I got excited..but I didn't remember who wrote it..and looking on you tube..your sound finally appeared..Richard..and since then I always play almost every day .. to thank our mother Maria Madonna and pray to never forget these words that you have played and they are making me remember and help me to continue living .. and I pray to God that they help other brothers in the world .. But this is another story .. My .. thanks Richard !!

Yeah I know what you mean..but if we look for a good spiritual path, we can go back very easily to that eagerness (no ipnosis, no drugs, no dogmas or things to believe...), we have only to cancel the bad side of our experience, not the memories, but the bad side. And then we can get in contact with the true side of ourself again...with a lot of happiness as a stable emotion! I did it ;-)

@@helenkahajossyova298 I have been discussing spirituality on KZbin all the time, since being Born Again on 28-2-21 in a really remarkable and wonderful event that happened to me. I believe it is the means of communication the Holy Spirit wants me to use! I did not do such things before, but happily I am now changed, and it is a key part of my new life. Although I am really quite a busy man, I always feel secure in the idea that, when I am writing to people about Father, Son and Holy Spirit, it is the best possible use of my time, energy and talent. I like feeling convinced in that way, as everything else seems uncertain now.

'Happiness, more or less, is just a change in me, something in my liberty. Happiness, coming and going...' This remains one of my favorite modern rock groups. Refreshing to come back to this so often. Especially when we have a music industry where what constitutes rock music is very distorted, simplistic chordal progressions. Not to mention the 'indie' trend, which has really worn out its welcome...I don't consider these guys hipsters: their brand of rock is of a more atmospheric, ambient flavor; Ashcroft's vocals are folksy, unpretentious. They my have been the influence for these modern, cutesy indie acts you see popping up these days, but what they were doing at the time was novel and not geared towards a fad. True innovators with profound existential messages for those who really listen.
