I think I've played this. Had an ex girlfriend who's family always played cards at gatherings. I loved it....and miss it. Also reminds me of Liars Dice in Red Dead Redemption.

I've always played a variant, where if both players have Kent, you can call Double-Kent and get double the points. It's riskier though because you have to wait for your partner to finish. Apart from that, you can also guess the opposite teams sign to get additional points.

Played this as a kid. We called it Winnebago

So we're doing reuploads now? Feels like cable trying to crawl it's way into the channel. Leave the channel to age with grace this is just killing it.

@@ModernRogue First, when has Modern Rogue ever done anything with grace? Second, how does it show this question being asked 4 hours ago, and it being responded to 6 hours ago? Magic!

Merry Christmas! And thanks for the game idea, just in time for a large get together, so I might get the chance to try it out. Do you guys think it could use some tweaked rules if playing with a few more people, say 6-8? So far I'm thinking 2 decks and 4 to 7 of a kind to win (start at 4, then work your way up for more difficulty). Bigger question tho: what if you want to play with an odd number of people? We still like steve, and it's christmas after all, so the usual "Hey steve, ya mind picking up an extra 2L soda?" wont work. Would a team of 3 vs 2 have any advantage/disadvantage? I'm trying to imagine how that might play out, but so far I haven't thought of any reason that could break the game. (I'm joking, we don't do that to steve)

It's a terrible game. It's VERY easy to just decide for a specific word and start speaking nonsense then it's mostly up to luck. Since there are no rules to what the players can't do there is absolutely no way how you can correctly guess someone due to how much noise you can create. And if you're wrong, you lose is too harsh of a punishment to try it when you think it is.

It's a wonderful game and everyone has a great time.
@EvilMastermindКүн бұрын
@@ModernRogue No it truly isn't game mechanics-wise. You can see it in the video aswell: Not a soul attempts to call the bluff because first of: The punishment is too high. and second (and more importantly): It is impossible to correctly call it. Successfully calling out the other team is the equivalent of me picking a secret word or phrase in the text and then handing it to you where your job is that you must start reading the text and stop at exactly my word/phrase on your first reading and nowhere else... Speaking makes the game even much easier than the seemingly original rules where players aren't allowed to speak as each player has to visually focus on their cards, the board and possibly the other players while they can completely visually disregard their partner because they know the code will come through sound. A more fair version of this game might be one where either a referee or a camera or two are placed around the team and by rule a Kent would need to be done by both players of a team signaling the same way for a silent 3 or 5-second-count of the referee. That way someone with a keen eye might manage to pick up on the short time frame when both opponents are doing a technically similar thing and correctly call it out. (And as a side rule if both players did something identical that was not the signal and got called out, they might lose the round if they both truly did something identical for maybe at least a second.) That way it's actually possible to compete with the other team and it's not just a game of dice with extra steps. (Completely luck-based.)
