A supercut showcasing the improbable rise of Richard Splett from Veep. Played by Sam Richardson, Richard Splett is a wholesome, unassuming man surrounded by Washington vipers. Watch as he ascends the political ladder to become America's Commander in Chief.

I was a PA for three seasons on VEEP and can vouch that Sam Richards is the best, just as lovable in real life. His first day on set he improvised so many good one liners it was obvious we hadn't seen the last of him. Him and Tim (Jonah) struck gold when they were together on and off set.

Wow, very cool. "Richard" is one of my favorite characters of all time, in anything, so it's nice to hear he's as lovable off screen, as he is on it. What an amazing show to be a part of, great to know you have such positive memories from your time there.

Of all the millions of things that get called underrated Richard Splett is the least underrated. He went from a very minor character to a main character, featuring in every episode, with multiple story arcs and ended the series as POTUS. Not everything is underrated, there are other adjectives.

But it's nice that even in Veep's cynical world, America still had the ability to become a better and more clear-eyed place in.. what, a few decades? And was able to recognize that Richard Splett had what it takes to be a true and just leader.

I think the final scene of the show where Richard has been president for two consecutive terms in landslide victories goes against Selina’s entire arc in the show, where she does anything at all possible to get ahead. She only serves one term by clawing and scratching her way to the top; meanwhile Richard is perfectly amiable and decent to everyone he comes into contact with, and ends up serving two terms with his dignity intact.

2:30 "Batman, Boy Wonder. Young lady...Lady Wonder." This is the epitome of Richard Splett's inadvertent, usually benign, verbal blunders🤣. AWESOME character!

I just stumbled on this, and I always thought he was the funniest person on the show. They need to find him a place to truly tap into his comedic genius..

I truly believe that Splett character is on the spectrum scale. Emotionally distant, unable to lie and ALWAYS speaks the truth. Consistently optimistic and always honest. “In my family NBA is a religion, and Catholicism”😂😂😂😂😂

Richard is hilarious and in this show, and in reality, if people always spoke what was on their mind a lot of it would be awful but Richard speaks his mind completely and you see he's just a genuinely nice guy.

Ya know, I’m glad they made Mike actually successful. Dude was abused so much by Selina and the rest of the cast the fact that he gets somewhere is great
