What a beautiful flying machine! And that Rotary engine (is it a Rhone or a Clerget?) started perfectly. Its good to see it finished in post Great War Suisse markings. But man.....that sound! Brraapp, brraapp!

Needs a cup holder for a Dr Pepper. We have locally a Nieuport 11 Bebe about 13 miles from me at the local airport.

Obviously then, SCRAMBLE! was a much more leisurely affair in those days! What a beautiful aeroplane, is it a restoration or a completely new aircraft?

First question: is the tail skid hooked to the rudder or ruder bar? After a year of taxiing has it become easier to taxi and turn? Can you turn in both directions? Have you gotten to the point that you can unload the tail (with the elevator) and turn? In any case, Congratulations.!!!!!!
@isitheaviator2 жыл бұрын
thank you! yes, it's not easier after a year but you get used to it. I can turn both ways but left is better.

Those planes were clearly made for smaller men from that time period or it’s a scale down size. Beautiful plane nevertheless

Those airplanes were tiny little things. Nieuport 23 was only around 18 feet, 5to6 metres, long; with wingspan of a bit over 26feet, 8 metres. Basically its fuselage is a foot longer than a Cadillac Escalade SUV.

And the thing's gross weight was only 1264 lbs, 565 kg. And it looks like a Brown Swiss dairy cow typically weighs 1300 to 1400 lbs, 598kg to 635kg, - meaning your hotshot fighter plane, all fueled up and ready to rumble, weighs less than a cow.

Nice video. You would get better ear protection if you learned how to use your foam ear plugs.

Meanwhile I use custom made ear plugs :-)

Is that windscreen accurate to the original aircraft?
@isitheaviator3 жыл бұрын
yes absolutely. There were two versions of windscreens, the other one was not attached to the A-strut
