i didnt manage to get a ticket for the hull game so i went skateboarding around town with a few mates..we didnt need a radio to know what was going on we could hear the crowd from castle gardens

Thanks for uploading this. Sure brought the memories all flooding back. Stayed at Richardson St, and the Vetch was always brilliant. You could have a couple thousands of Jacks in there, and it would always seem full from the outside because we never stop singing. Standing on the terraces was the best football memory in my life.

I started watching the swans when I was 7yrs old im now 50, the Vetch with out a doubt brings back great memories, climbing from the forth division to the old division 1, Away at Preston + won 3-1, beating Leeds 5-1 in our 1st game in division 1, the North bank crammed with fans.Those were the best days... LOVED THOSE DAYS.

Due to safety restrictions the crowds at The Vetch were much reduced. The attendance for this game was around 13,000,whereas,in it's heyday,32,000 plus crammed into the ground. I know because I was there. The atmosphere was very intimidating,especially when The North Bank got going. Happy days.

Great to see how far they've come from almost being Relegated to Non-league Respect.

I remember a night game v Arsenal in the league cup years ago stood on the north bank and it was packed like sardines . There were 2 lads holding crash helmets stood in front of us who were constantly turning round. They were obviously away fans who thought the side of the ground they were in would have been less partisan . They had mistakenly chosen to stand in the worst possible place in the entire ground - the north bank literally surrounded by thousands of standing jacks . They obviously didn't know the layout of the ground . Fair play they stayed there the entire game with no bother but I've never seen 2 blokes so nervous in my entire life.

A sensible comment, so we will. Is th Vetch still there atm, just out of interest? I'd have thought they'd knocked it down by now, surely make some good money selling it off for housing?

Either "cheer up lennie lawrence..."or Tate singing "Cardiff City falling down", don't you find it strange that whether you're celebrating staying in the football league or celebrating going to the premiership you're first thought is of Cardif? Congrats on the promotion btw, the world is watching now so try not to embarrass us Welsh.
@MOGGS19427 жыл бұрын
Nothing "strange" about it, since Cardiff are the near neighbours from Hell. It's called rivalry. Re Swansea possibly embarrassing "us Welsh". Not much sign of that happening, although this season was a sterner test than most. Referring back to " embarrass us Welsh", your lot did just that on your brief visit to the P.L. Best keep schtum, eh ? Lol.

Did you notice how much of that atmosphere was A.) Generated by songs being played over the PA and B.) Anti-Cardiff; who were at the time in a better league, with better prospects even then. I detect a hint of jealousy such is the volume of anti-Cardiff sentiment.
