Great show. One thing I hated about Malzahn’s offense was that the offenses got dominated by the defense during preseason practices and then it took them 4-5 games to finally find an identity and get into rhythm. I’ll cautiously boog with all the hype but I need to see it on the field before I go full, sunshine pumping boog.

Payton caught so much crap from fair weather fans last year, and those same people are still slinging crap at him now. Nothing would make me happier than to see him light it up this season. His best revenge is success. I think he can do it and I'm almost desperate to see it happen. Payton is CHF's guy, and he's my guy, too. There's every reason to believe Payton can be an integral part of Auburn's success this fall. I'm all in, and I can hardly wait for the season to start. War Damn Eagle!

@@ericpearson881 couldn’t agree more. I’ve grown so sick and tired of seeing “fans” disparage the young man like he was the sole reason the offense sucked last year. I tend to believe he deserved only a small amount of the blame given the situation he was put it. Truthfully, it’s probably somewhere in between the two. What could absolutely never be questioned was his effort, though. He put his body on the line time and time again, at times grinding out some tough yards to pick up first downs with his legs. He’s a gamer, and the last time he had talent at his disposal (like he’s going to have again this season) he led MSU to an 11-2 record in his first year as a starter (including wins over Michigan and Penn State), a NY6 bowl win, and threw for enough yards to put him at #2 all time in a single season had he done it at Auburn. They may not be polished just yet, but this offensive roster without a doubt has as much, if not more, NFL talent on it than that MSU team did. Think it’s also a pretty easy argument to make that Freeze and company are going to put him in a much much better position to succeed.
