I've been building a lot of confidence with crankbaits in the last few months. Balsa flat sided models for bass fishing and I also caught five species on a small Bomber Fat A at the local creek a few weeks ago. Fun technique for sure

Will the rain and hot weather make the trout fishing difficult? It's been raining/showering nonstop this past week in Morris County and i missed the whole spring season 😢

Actually, it will. As Summer comes, the Trout will start looking for the COLDEST areas in the Creeks, Lakes, Ponds, etc. You will be able to find them in deeper areas, areas with heavier current and colder water, and mouths of little runs/tributaries with colder water. If they are too hot, they won't feed either. They will just be there "surviving." Lol.

Should I bleed a trout right away? I caught one the other day as a beginner and I didn't actually expect to catch anything, so I let it go since I wasn't prepared to carry any fish with me.

For best results for tasty meat, definitely bleed it right away. Also, make sure that you have ICE with you so you can put your fish on ice right after you take it out of the Creek. Trout meat tends to spoil really fast, especially when it is warm out there.

How do you cook them? I never get the stocked trout to taste good.

This time, I filled them. Then, I marinated them in rice cooking wine, a little bit of salt (be careful - fish can easily be oversalted), cumin, turmeric, and garam masala. I fried them in one tablespoon of lard (fat that I rendered from bacon). Another way of cooking them that I like is to bake them at 375 or 10 minutes (depending on the thickness of the fillets). I marinate them with rice cooking wine, white pepper, salt, and a lot of thyme. I place one tablespoon of butter on top and bake it.
