Hey guys, if there is some confusion about why Indy is in this video even though there was a recent announcement from Flo that stated otherwise (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJbMdYqQecaoo5I): We filmed a few of these epilogue episodes that will air once a week till mid December. They are meant as a wrap-up for the weekly coverage of the war and possibly an introduction to the time after 11/11. This is by no means exhaustive coverage and we will probably come back to some of the topics we talk about in these episodes later on. Enjoy!

I think it's horrible that modern historians and newsmen on the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day debated the events back then when they should only have quoted our wise ancestors that cried sense before, during, and after the war. there was nothing new to add.

I agree, but if I was living in those times and one of the soldiers, I might feel that way, but the chance to just stop might be just too over powering. If you keep pushing into Germany there will still be killing. I think the pressure to just stop the madness was huge.
@waltertaljaard1488

Monsieur le general probably wasn't aware that most of the French troops were sick and tired of the war. They just wanted it to stop it ASAP, get out of these stinking trenches, get out of these filthy bleu uniforms, return to their families and finally live like human beings again instead of being treated like cattle, beasts of burden and gunfodder. And unlike the Germans they had something to come home to.

It's impossible to imagine continuing life as "normal" after going through this war, even if you were on the side of the "victors"... Throughout this series you've done an excellent job of portraying the great war from strategical level, and even more importantly, from individual level, not just from the point of view of generals and statesmen, but also from the view of suffering frontline soldiers and starving civilians. Thank you for years of entertainment!

3:00 I loved this touching footage of General Pershing. He is taken offguard (not something I think he was used to) by the woman with the flowers. This is an outstanding YT channel. I have watched so many videos but I am still not even half way through 😄. Great story telling and indepth analyses of events, characters and equipment. there are still doubts about the real reasons that led to this war and about the way it ended and paved the way into the next. Weather they are true or not, people should always keep in mind, that the people of other nations are not their enemies. Its people in power playing games that cause normal people to lose their lives by the millions. I hope that people remember this the next time, when their political leaders call them to arms and tell them to fight against the people of another nation, that they will exchange their leaders instead

I love old images or film clips like that. There is a similar photograph from the American Civil War that sticks in my memory. It is of prisoners of war and most are sort of milling about and not paying attention to whomever took the photograph, or glancing in that direction without any expression of emotion. One of the prisoners of war however is smiling broadly at the camera and clearly hamming it up, waving his hat in the air. It also seemed like he was greeting the viewer through the ages.

In some of my reading of editorials and comments from the period, one interesting article from 1921 posed the question: Had Germany lost the war, but won the peace? This was in reference to German industry and their rapid penetration of world markets with their precision machine tools and equipment while England and France were lagging. It is noted in Indy's commentary that the allied troops were suprised at the condition of Germany in the Country's interior. German industry was completely intact.

They never got into Germany.” - Herbert Sulzbach (German Officer) When the German troops arrived back in Berlin in December they were welcomed with flowers and cheering crowds. Friedrich Ebert even made a speech saying "I salute you, you return unvanquished". It's easy to see why the Stabbed In The Back Myth became so popular so quickly.
