For those who don't know, the reason he couldn't evolve Chad at first was because Chad was out in the over world. If the pokemon is rendered it can't change forms or evolve.

I laughed so hard when he finds the shiny buneary and just charged right up to it. Forget saving the game, this is a game about learning the behaviors of Pokémon, and buneary is as simple as it gets: it runs away every chance it gets. ANY effort at sneaking would have gotten him that shiny. With it being his favorite Pokémon, you'd think he would have taken the time to learn is behavior. I certainly did with eevee, and I got my shiny female as a result!

I haven't had to save before catching as long as I understood if it was an attacking mon or a running mon. buneary run so... its smart to not start a battle with them unless you hit them from behind to catch them unaware. best way to catch buneary is to throw pokeballs at it while hidden

Always drop to a hard save when you see a rare Pokémon spawn. If you fail, the game will spawn it again as long as it was part of the render when you made the save state.

Funfact: There is a secret backup the game makes when ever you leave the city. Everything will be the same, Shinies, Rocks, spawns etc. You use the backup by leaving the game, and then before you enter the „Gameplay part“ of the game you hit Up+X+B at the same time. And with that you have the option to load that secret back up.
