Abandonment and neglect can be as bad as the horror show that was going on following him abandoning and neglecting his kids…kids who likely never felt they could really go to him for help, but he made sure to prove it. Having a parent basically ‘prove’ they don’t love you, while another parent and her buddy are telling you this is all punishment from Satan, or whatever, basically seals the deal. The 2 youngest kids are never going to trust anyone again…I’d be surprised if the older 4 do. Just horrifying.

I hate that so many legal systems don't recognize how much damage is caused by neglect and abandonment. It can be just as physically damaging as physical abuse to be uncared for, and it's often more psychologically damaging. This is absolutely correct 💯 I grew up with terrible parents that neglected, abused and abandoned me. They parentified me as well. They pinned my sister and I against each other throughout our childhood and into early adulthood. I've been no contact for some time and despite all the therapy and group therapy, I am still afraid of losing my loved ones because I'm not good enough or I'm somehow a bad person. There's so much more to it but my point is, is that neglect and abandonment absolutely need to be dealt with in a more extreme manner. We need mentally healthy people in the world so that they can help those struggling with their childhood etc. I know I have value in this life but sometimes I dream about who I could have been if I was raised in a loving supportive household.

I think the reason was much much more mundane, and that Chad was just being a normal teenage boy. You can all imagine how thrilled Ruby would be to find out that her teenager was exploring his body and possibly leaving around underwear or rags with, well, "discharge".

I think it's both. They probably justified everything by blaming his "sinful" behavior. This camp wasn't a punishment, but more like a warning. It was to say "You think home is bad? Everywhere else you go will be even worse!" He's the oldest, the others look up to him so they wanted to send a message to all of the children. He was still living in the house with Ruby and the kids until after they stopped filming for their vlog channel. He's just as culpable and he also abandoned those kids for over a year.

​​@@carolmorgan7998I think it's more that Ruby had a twisted sense of favorites---except that unlike a lot of parents who play favorites (which is terrible on its own) Ruby didn't treat some of the kids normally and go above and beyond for the others. Her "favorites" (who I suspect are the oldest daughter and middle girls) were treated with judgement, highly conditional love and casual cruelty...but that was it. For someone like Ruby that's a pretty big display of affection. The ones she didn't like (the oldest son and the two youngest) were exposed to the full extent of her vicious hatred and sadistic desire to inflict pain. Frankly she was physically hurting those three long before Hildebrandt got involved but it was subtle and sporadic. But she definitely piled on the emotional and mental abuse. As for Kevin...I think Kevin is a perfect example of what happens when people take the "Spouse>kids" mindset to its logical conclusion. That and his religious beliefs made him turn a blind eye to the horrors his wife dished out and made him susceptible to the manipulative tactics employed by both of those monsters. That isn't a defense of Kevin Franke by any means---I think he's a weak and pathetic excuse for a father and man. And I hope the rest of his life is filled with guilt and mental torment over what he allowed to happen. But I don't think he had the same kind of malicious cruelty and evil in his heart that Ruby did and likely still does. On the other hand...all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. So many good people did try to pill those kids out of their horrendous circumstances but the one person who had the most power in the situation did nothing.

I've heard that the whole prank on his brother was the reason given for why his bed and bedroom *rights*- not privileges- were taken away, but it was actually because he had been caught being a teenage boy, if you know what I mean. Growing up, figuring things out. It's normal. And that's why they also took the door off of the bathroom he used so he could have absolutely no privacy anywhere. In one of Ruby and Jodi's Connexions talks, Jodi speaks of doing this as a perfectly normal thing and says, as if speaking to her child, "I will keep your siblings away, but *I* will be walking by". While they're in the bathroom! How creepy is that! And in another one of just Ruby, she talks about how a child should have no privacy whatsoever, and that includes journals, "me time", their bedroom, the bathroom, personal belongings, etc., because SHE is responsible for them and it is HER house, all of it and everything in it. And then she says to the camera, "Do you see how loving that is?". I'm glad these two woman are behind bars. I can't say I wasn't just a little bit satisfied to see them walk into court shackled the same as they shackled young R. They'll be treated so much better (right now, at least, while they're in jail) than they treated him with the way they tied and shacked him. But Kevin... he's in no way innocent, and I hope he gets what he deserves as well. Once you harm, or step back and allow another to harm a child, especially a child in your care, you deserve to be locked up for life. These little ones, and even the middle girls- their lives will forever be scarred because of the horrific things they went through at the hands of those who were supposed to protect and love them. That deserves no mercy. With Ruby, the punishment never fit the crime. She was quick to hand down the most severe punishment and capture it all on camera to make millions exploiting her children's pain.

You keep saying Kevin wanted to SUE his daughter, Shari. No. He wanted the police to arrest her for robbery, to be fingerprinted, photographed and put in jail at least until arraignment where maybe she could post bail. And then, he wanted her charged and convicted and get punished by the legal system for robbery which would be permanently on her record even if prison was part of her sentence. That’s something very different than suing her. The police department is what he wanted to sue: for NOT arresting his daughter for robbery, a crime they decided there was absolutely no probable cause she committed. I hope Kevin is not allowed anywhere near his minor children. He’s a very bad father.

My covert narcissist mother called the cops on me for posting a tik tok talking about things she put me through, I own my own house lmao she also threatened to call the cops on me all the time growing up. One time I came home to a group of police officers in my room, they cornered me and told me I need to respect my mom and do my chores and watch my attitude. Cuffed me, patted me down, and told me this is what will happen. My mom was just upstairs cleaning? Then they let me go and left. It was terrifying… and I had no idea what warranted it… a messy room I guess? Covert narcs LOVE to use the police against EVERYONE. She got my tik tok account banned too. I made another one talking about the same shit, and blocked all my family. She then sends me a video that I posted on my account she got banned of mushrooms I had (they were the magic kind) and basically black mailed me into not talking about her abuse on the internet. She keeps making new accounts to watch my shit, she’s had friends of hers comment on my videos telling me “omg just get over it already.” About my mom coaching me to say my dad sexually assaulted me when I was little. Lmao yeah a normal unbiased human would think that way I’m sure. /s

FWIW, the “police officers” were most likely fake rent-a-cops either security guards of some type or at most some off-duty officers doing your mom a “favor” to scare you. My guess is also it was in a time before cell phone video where there was not an awareness of a risk of them being recorded; because what they were doing was illegal. Real cops could have been fired at least but should be charged; and fake cops arrested for impersonating officers. Either way, it was abuse and again I’m sorry that happened to you.

After the cops told him his kids were in the hospital and would be there for at least 3days & after telling him the condition they were found in he didn’t even ask how they were or if and or when he could see them!! All he said was “does this mean my wife will be in trouble will she be arrested? I love my wife and I don’t want her to get into trouble! I trust her with the children!” Imagine saying you love and trust your wife AFTER hearing everything the cops just told him!!! He’s SICK SICK SICK and should NEVER be able to parent those poor children again! I could totally see him blaming the kids for Ruby going to prison & could totally see him taking it out on them!!!

Why is no one talking about his police interview? He's told two of his children were found in a condition that required hospitalisation. He didn't ask about his other children, just his wife. I think what was so telling was that he was told to go to the police station to pick up his kids and he didn’t ask if they were ok. Again when he was told about their condition and that they were in the hospital, he still didn’t ask if they were ok or what happened.
