The sound of a volleyball hitting the ground ricochets deep inside your bones, but despite the sweat and tears that drenched everyone’s jerseys, they never seem to dampen the silent fire that burns within. As the strings and timpani tremolo sails in, you know it in your heart: it is time. 2:25 Chapter 3 - Let’s go to Nationals!! The triumphant orchestral fanfare heralds you as you hold your ground on the orange court. The loud cheers from the audience stands spurge you on, but no, you don’t need memories. You don’t need applause. You don’t need gold medals. What you need is the exhilaration that comes with every jump, the adrenaline roaring in your bloodstream, the frantic heartbeats, the heavy breaths, the feeling of right here, right now. This is everything that could possibly matter. At the far side of the net, you swear you could see the brilliant rays of sun at the summit, and the silhouette of crow wings. 3:37 Chapter 4 - Endings and Beginnings The Spring High finals concluded with the senpai’s graduation.
