The US is the only first world country that does not have community healthcare. In Australia if you have a heart attack you go to hospital, you get treated, operated on etc and you leave the hospital. You pay for your prescription. My mum at 93 was rushed to hospital after a fall, was treated in emergency. Was admitted to a ward and then spent 5 days with 24-hour care in palliative care for her end-of-life care; and they gave me a fold out bed next to her. There was no fee and the hospital was wonderful. We all pay a 2% tax for this privilege, if you are on a higher wage we pay a small Medicare levy. It's for the good of all.

I am a retired RN CCM. I last worked for a Insurance Company as a Workman's Comp nurse monitoring the medical care of Injured workers for companies such as UPS; etc. When Opposing Insurance companies would deny a treatment for my patients, for which I felt was an incorrect decision based on patient's subjective/ Objective Findings, Treatment and tests performed. I would take these cases to our in-house RMD ( Regional Medical Director) discuss the case and denial of treatment. 10 out of ten times our RMD would overide the opposing parties Denial and I would get the treatment authorized. If the opposing party would really study the case put forth to them them the cases would more than likely not be denied. Maybe having a RN/RMD involved with these medical decisions there would be less denials of treatment moving forward.

People are sharing their horror stories dealing with insurance companies and it’s going viral now. So to some extent, Luigi is making a change.

@stephennootens91616 сағат бұрын
Well it is funny story. When Teddy Roosevelt ran on a third party ticket he pushed for universal healthcare, he of course lost and we go Woodrow Wilson under who we got the Jim Crow laws if I recall. Than came our second Roosevelt FDR who before he died told Americans in a speech about hos plans for a second bill of rights which included the right to healthcare. He died before he had chance to get much further on the plan. The presidents up to Nixon tried to get on form or another of universal healthcare past but failed. Than Reagan came and he convinced the Americans one rich people need massive tax cuts and that the worse thing in the world is the government showing up and helping you. Than Clinton pretty much sold the Democratic party to Wall St bankers and that was that.

I went to the dentist yesterday and 1 filling cost me $128 out of pocket WITH insurance! I didn't even take an injection because it takes too long to numb me and I had to get to work. Yes, ppll who have insurance are privileged but what is the point if most don't take yours or you still get stuck paying a lot of money out of pocket. If this were last week I wouldn't have even been able to pay for that filling. Had $71 in my account.

Joy Reid on MSNBC had a guest recently talking about why the US healthcare system is a mess. The reason he gave, through research, is that white Americans wanted to deny freed slaves of healthcare after The Civil War hoping they would die. I suggest entering Joy Reid and healthcare or The Reid Out and healthcare. He wrote a book that explains it all. I was shocked at the depravity but not surprised about it because that's who America has always been.

Because the capitalism in the US has turned toxic. Making huge profits is more important than holding onto a good value system. When politicians depend on corporate America’s campaign donations, politicians in office owe these corporations favors- not the constituents that voted them in.

Than came Reagan (sidenote many a negative history tale about the US special economic ones start with than came Reagan) who told famous words the nine most terrifying words in the English language are I am from the government and I am here to help. Than we all nodded our heads in agreement and cheered as he cut founding from social welfare programs.

@@stephennootens916 Look at Joy Reid's segment on MSNBC about healthcare. Type in Joy Reid healthcare or The Reid Out and healthcare. She had a man on her show, who wrote a book about it, saying the healthcare system we have today is based on white men in government not wanting black Americans to have healthcare. He said black people were an inferior race and would die out sooner and that would solve the race problem in America. So, if you're an American, especially one of color, knowing this country, it shouldn't be a shock. Because EVERYTHING is about race here.

Murdering someone because of a broken healthcare system does absolutely nothing and is unacceptable in every capacity! A family member of mine was denied healthcare that was needed to save her life, and her doctor actually went to bat for her up against the insurance company and was continuously denied for years. Due to her illness and lack of care from the insurance company she died in a horrible way and three months later and approval letter came in the mail for the Services that she needed that would’ve saved her life, but she was already dead so I understand the pain in the anger and the frustration but that does not mean murder is OK.
