Just yesterday I watched a documentary on the 1964 Kitty Genovese case. The New York Times headline that 38 people watched what happened yet did nothing has in recent years been found to be exaggerated. One man opened his window and yelled at the attacker, causing him to run. Another neighbor called the police yet was told they already were informed of what was happening. When one of Kitty's neighbors and friend was awakened by the second attack, she ran downstairs and stayed witb Kitty, holding her until help arrived. Other news reporters looked into what the Times wrote and found holes in what they reported, yet because of the Times' reputation and power were scared to go against them.

I was born in 1972 and was never held back because I was a woman, I graduated college with master’s degree, had a career and now retired, all this in Southeastern Kentucky, which the mountain areas of Appalachia some like to think we’re way behind everyone else. My Grandmother born here in 1914 retired as post mistress of our post office, even during her time when things were a little different she still had a career, she also owned and worked the country store that the post office was in. How has Whoopie been held back, not only is she a woman she’s also black but yet she’s rich? Where did she get wealthy, in America! Be thankful you live here in this wonderful country!
