To tie in with the N1 starfighter I think they won't be putting many if any carded figures in with vehicles so they can keep "plastic free packaging" on it. They'll just keep it to playsets. I can't guarantee it,just my take 🤷

I was really hoping they had sorted the standing issues out with this release. I do not have the first release or the Raider, so this will be my first VC AT-AT. The paint apps look better but I'm kinda disappointed with Chewie not being retooled. This isn't me moaning by the way lol.

I had issues with the first one. Just wouldn't stand. I went around and tightened all the screws and now it stands really well. Maybe in one or two positions but in those positions it sturdy. I also did this when I pick up the Mandalorian one a few weeks back and it seems to do the trick.

Tightening the screws helps on the legs as theyre too loose tbh...but balancing it just right is a REAL pain

I was going to comment how cool this looked, but I forgot that liking anything Hasbro does without tearing them to shreds makes me responsible for everything anyone hates about their products. This plus the bunker and a couple speeder bikes is a great start to a really cool display. It’s a step or two above the vintage Kenner commercial that used a styrofoam coffee cup as a biker scout outpost.

@@peanutschatzie4129 Collectors love to hate on Hasbro for all of their shortcomings (which are real and well documented) so we are hesistant to admit when they do a pretty good job, which is more often than people think. For instance this AT-ST mold dates all the way back to the Legacy Collection but Hasbro has actualy reissued with a much more accurate paint job and improved joints, which is the way to go when reissuing older stuff.

Thanks, BB. With regards to making the AT-ST stand up better, I have found a nice pose by making a z-shape on either side using the "thigh"; the bar that connect the body and the leg; and the side if the body. It stands quite tall and definitely looks the part. I have even got the original TVC one to stand like this very well. You have to incline the feet too when doing this, but it looks really good.

Just picked up one of these at a local collector’s shop called Geek Antique in LA, this thing is awesome! I got the black series version in 2017 and i’ll say it stands up better than that one but i’m able to get both standing well. I’ll say when i have the other one with it, the weathering really stands out!

I like the updated paint apps, but disappointing to hear that the vehicle is still difficult to stand. That’s the reason I purchased this. Although I clue when it will be shipped from HasbroPulse.

There'd be LESS backlash putting a carded Chewie in this ATST set that putting a carded Merrick in Xwing, coz first and foremost... the Chewie ain't a figure you'd really wanna open! As opposed to Merrick who we all (or many wanted) loose AND carded! 🙃 I take on board what you were saying about wanting a brand new Chewie though.... I wouldn't be as fussed! 😏👌🏼

Yeah its a good point about not wanting to open it. If I was a carded only collector I wouldnt be happy having to pay £99 to get a carded figure thats 15+ years old when I don't care for the vehicle. Its a bit like putting that Retro figure in that Monopoly game. Ludicrous.

Loved my 80’s one and at least it had the walking feature and it was lockable , I did get the 90’s reissue in the shadows box so do I need a wobbly TVC ?

I just received mine yesterday and opened it up today. I have to say, I think it's great. I had trouble with the legs/posing to start but after 10mins of fiddling it is possible to get this into a "normal" position (the head properly looking straight ahead). It just takes a little time and patience. My problem is that the right "eye hatch" on mine is loose and won't stay fully open, which is a shame. Also disappointed that Chewy won't actually sit inside the cockpit - too big!

I see they still haven't corrected the missing stays on the legs (the part that looks like a leaf spring that presses on the wheel in the back of the knee joint), they left them off the mandalorian raider version as well. I manage to get my raider version standing quite well, it does take some effort though. Great review as always 👍🏻

I usually love the paint deco on TVC vehicles, but I would have preferred a bit more subtle weathering on this one. Especially on the AT-ST's head. I assume the box art features a prototype because that seems to look better. Well, maybe it will look better in hand.

My main trouble is that they go to all of this trouble to give it a realistic look, but basically stick to the same 40 year old mould of the original release, without upscaling it to go with the figures. Scale wise, it's like a one man AT-PT rather than the two man AT-ST.

I picked up the 3.75 Black series AT-ST with the driver and it took me what seemed forever to get it to stand with the head level but once I put the driver in the cockpit it would fall forward so I re-positioned the legs and again had to level the head and put the driver back in and this time it stayed upright, so yeah just getting the legs in the right positions is such a hassle but I got it so it is possible to get the head at a leveling position.

This is the first review I found with a clear look at the interior, thank you for that. 👍I am disappointed that the interior does not have the space behind the seats. In 40 years I seem to be the only person ever to have noticed that AT-STs have a crew of 3, not 2, with a space behind the driver and gunner for the commander to stand. The one Chewbacca and the ewoks hijack only has two guys in it because it's the same one Leia shot the commander out of earlier in the fight--easily determined because of that distinctive blaster scar. I wonder if it would be possible to rework or replace the interior? I do have a 3D printer, but I'm not sure how the head is constructed.

I’ve purchased just about every release of this AT-ST mold and, without exception, I had to eventually resort to superglue on the legs to get it to stand properly. I think Hasbro could solve this problem by either using metal joints or just removing some of the articulation from the legs. Another solution would be to make the legs and feet out of diecast metal, to bottom-weight the entire toy and make it more stable.

A little stiffer plastic mix would go a long way. It’s kind of like the plastic they use on weapons. Compare to like the amazing POF vehicles. But physics is physics and weight distribution. But even then this thing is a bugger to stand as cool as it could look.

Thx 4 the review. I am a little disappointed (in case i preordered two) Chewie comes not on Card, AT ST's legs are "wabbelig" as the other Versions. Head to legs balance is bad. It's difficult to give em a cool pose. On the other hand, the box layout is cool and the painting of these machine is very nice. Hope, we will get an 6inch Version of it. I'm looking forward 🤗

I have the TBS 2016 version and I have it posed in several different positions and posted on IG page. I've never had any issues with it standing funny or falling over. I see these complaints constantly and I really don't understand it. He will always be top heavy because of his head. It's how you articulate the legs to support the head to avoid it toppling over. There is a trick to posing him. I guess we all need an ATST posing challenge or something. lol

@@BossksBounty lol, Oh I'm no pro, but there's for sure tricks to posing him. That outward hinge is what people need to use to get him in different poses. Well, at least that's what I finally figured out after messing with it for a while. I also watched how he walks in the Mando, etc. movies.. He will sway from side to side when it walks. Like you stated, he will always be top heavy with his head, no matter how tight the joints are that Hasbro makes. lol Plus, his legs will go up past the body part if you use the outward leg hinges and that helps him with poses. So hard to explain, but I feel like people just get too frustrated with all the joints. TC my friend and I enjoy all your reviews and content!

I'm still hoping perhaps the one you got doesn't have the best leg joints. I'd like to believe they made improvements. Honestly, just make the head lighter! It's an empty shell, I really don't understand why it is so heavy to begin with? In any case, it looks so much better than the 2013 one. So, I will get rid of the old one. Probably dump the Legacy one too.

Out of all the Hasbro reveals in recent years the ROTJ 40th reveal they did a few weeks back is so underwhelming and, well, boring (apart from the “pipelined” Mandalorian N1). Where’s a new Tessek (it’s been 23 years since the last one)? Where’s a new Chief Chirpa, Mon Calamari Fleet Officer, Sim Aloo, EV-9D9, 8D8, original Rebo Band 3-pack, B-Wing Pilot, AT-ST Driver, A-Wing Pilot, General Madine, Amanaman and unreleased characters such as Geezum, Fozec and Gauron Nas Tal?

1st I am so happy that one of them is actually being played with. That’s awesome and that’s what these are for. Second, I have the Black Series one and it’s ok. I made an acrylic stand for it so I don’t worry about it toppling over again. Third it’s great that these are available again for those that missed out. I feel a bit over priced but everything Hasbro Star Wars is so I am glad for what I already have and am grateful I am not a completist. Anyway. Wonderful review. Thanks for this BB. Quickest pre-order cancel ever for me. Just yet another re-pack with nothing to merit that price tag you couldn't do with some citadel paints. I actually got the rogue one version from a prior line (can't remember which now) and that's always stood fine. Not sure whether this has actually gotten progressively worse? Either way, really not enjoying this direction of TVC. Feels like it's on its last wobbly legs right now.. :-(

I disagree with @Hasbro on this for the Picepoint. The Chewbacca should have been a TVC card just like most of the other playsets / Vehicles. Just make Great playsets and Vehicles with a carded figures included. I.E. How about a massive MOS Eisly Cantina. OR, an awesome Ewok Village. OR, A Imperial Endor Landing pad. Love your work!!

I have the Legacy version and i got this new one, but i am disappointed, the plastic is more flimsy and the connections are not as sturdy. The chin gun is a much softer and thicker plastic, it does not rotate like on the old one.

Yeah not happy about this one, it buckled under his own weight and was leaning against the side of the detolf, no way this one can be posed. Wish i did not buy it TBH, Hasbro should really be ashamed for releasing this and cheaping out on the materials used.

The “tightening of the joints” was nothing more than Hasbro lip service. There’s no way the exact same parts are going to behave any differently. I didn’t believe them for one second when they said that. I preordered one, and I’ll probably keep it coming after seeing your review, but to be honest I really don’t need it as I got the Black Series version that came out 7-8 years ago (actually got 3 of them; back in the day I found two of them in a Ross department store marked down to $7 each…yep…now the exact same vehicle is inflated to $90….🤦🏻‍♂️), and I got the Mandalorian version that came out 3 years ago. Where am I going to set up a 3rd one of these? As for Chewie, as you show it’s pretty much a straight repack I already have too…🤦🏻‍♂️. So what am I thinking now…🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve got this on preorder, my first AT ST. One thing that it’s a shame it doesn’t have is a removable front face or side face so it would make it easier to take some internal photos of figures sat inside. Also my go to 3.75 Chewie is the awesome looking Legacy (I think?) one - he’s got his mouth closed.
