Awesome series, but you should have given more clarity on Rohit's career. He didn't just get injured, won ipl, and got injured again.He scored 171* against Aus in Perth, He scored 4 t20 centuries, was MOS against WI, played well against NZ (remember his super over last ball chakka?) He then got the chance to open in tests,and went scoring exceptionally well, 176,127,212 aganist SA. He scored his first test overseas 100 in England. So these are the things which build him as a top batsmen which you need to mention. He has worked hard too on his batting and that's why became the top 2 best odi batsman

I partially agree with you but this started after MSD leaving captaincy mid test tour in Australia in 2014 giving BCCI no option in 2014 Virat who was in top form Rohit struggling with his injuries and form in test cricket Rahane not being discovered as a captain and making the highest run scorer from the Indian side Virat the next captain of India for test cricket......Virat proving his worth as a test captain by marching towards no.1 test team in 2016 & 2017 (Dhoni still being the captain of the white ball cricket side)made them make Virat as an all time captain in 2017 (Being test to be considered as the most difficult form of the sport to captain) so nobody could be considered at fault for BCCI's decision

Had he played well Along with VK, we could have picked up a good momentum and posted a big score. Things could have been so different if this had happened. Actually,if u look at history of cricket (going into the initial years) the elite class would mostly want to bat and the lower classes would be made to bowl...As the idea of class supremacy was prevalent then captaincy was taken by the batsmen belonging to the elite class..Thus the system continues nowadays(without class division)..it was just a belief back then based on social evils that bowlers as they were from the lower classes dont deserve to captain the elite batsmen PS: but nowadays its more of workload. For example, Sourabh Netravalkar, captain of USA stepped down from T20I captaincy to focus on his bowling(they also went on a winless streak) Also I've used the term 'batsman' for 'batter' as women's cricket wasnt widely accepted back then

The main reason is not all bowlers are permanent part of the 11 in all the matches many times we see change in bowling lineup based on the condition of the pitches. Sometimes we play with two fast bowlers and 3 spinners or sometimes 2 spinners and 3 fast bowlers. Plus the fast bowlers frequently get injured specially in india, so if a player is not permanent in the 11 he can not be a good captain. And yes exceptions exists 🙂

Virat is phenomenal batsman no doubt about it. I haven't seen anyone as consistent as him. As a captain I have seen a number of times he has made selection errors. 1)2 spinners on a green pitch at lord's in 2018 2) Dropping rahane the vice captain in south africa. 3) Dropping someone like pujara in test matches. 4) I have lost count when Ashwin was dropped from various matches. 5) Leaving out a solid number 4 like Ambati raidu from the world cup squad was a blunder. Giving players a long rope at international level is extremely essential. Dada has advocated it numerous times. Citing Australia of the early 2000's isn't fair because they won 3 worldcups. A good leader accepts the responsibility of the losses and gives his team credit for the wins. Blaming the bowlers for CWC 2019 semi final was passing the buck. The fact is it were the batsman that had failed us. Sure there are different styles of leadership. If something doesn't work repeatedly, then there needs to be self reflection. Coming to the 2017 final. We can only imagine what kind of strategy was planned when the coach and the captain had so much friction.

All things aside, the media outburst about an alleged Virat-Rohit rift is just laughable because of many reasons. Firstly, these are individuals are the best cricketers so they represent their country. All of them are different who can't be expected to get along. Secondly. they are all people who display the highest levels of professionalism, they won't let a personal dispute, even if one exists at all get in the way of the team's greater interests. And a captain is always going to win a coach-captain. Dada's team rebelled against Greg Chappell and Kumble wasn't on the same wavelength as Virat. They're both legends in their own right though.

From 2014 to 2019, Rohit was almost on the same footing as Virat (if not more) in terms runs scored inspite of Rohit's injuries. So i don't think there was a massive contrast in their peformances in this time period as explained in the video. That's the only area where i disagree with this video. amazing video though, as always!! Moreover in this time period, Rohit performed waay better as a captain for MI and Virat was quite poor as a captain for RCB inspite of his dream run in 2016. However whilst Rohit won IPL trophies, Virat has been an amazing captain in tests, which goes to show that Virat's style of captaincy is best suited for tests rather than limited overs.

Virat is once in generation player and even Rohit isn't close to him in terms of runs and hunger he shows. He will go down as best Test captain ever. And he is unlucky in toss too, and in longer format you have enough time and chances to cover up that in shorter formtas especially in T20s it's hard like you loose a Toss and dew settles in you are done that's what pulls him back and also Rohit is overall better captain in shorter formats (that doesn't mean Virat is bad captain by any way) Rohit has that gut instinct and longer run to players make them perform well at crunch situations. Just hoping going forward they help each other and bring WCs to home (there are 3 in 3 yrs)
