During the opening decades of the 20th century, 27 rue de Fleurus on the left bank of Paris was home to Gertrude Stein and her famous salons. In her home Stein assembled one of the greatest assortments of artists and writers ever gathered in one place. Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, James Joyce, Ezra Pound and Henri Matisse, were only a few of the many geniuses that came seeking Stein’s advice and critique. In this presentation you will learn about the birthplace of modern art and literature and its midwife, Gertrude Stein.
