Brendan Perry is an Australian singer/songwriter known for his work with the duo Dead Can Dance as well as solo. DCD are often associated with the world music scene, but is rooted in the early releases in the gothic rock genre. The band is known for their ethereal, often somber music with a focus on percussion and synthesizers. Their live performances are considered unique as the band often plays unreleased music in favor of album tracks and well-known songs.
Brendan has a very warm and sagely tone, His lower register is very booming and sagely. His upper registers are strong and clean, with notes in the mid to upper fourth octave being the most powerful and effortless. His fifth octave notes are also general smooth, as well as being very ethereal. Brendan's range and control of his voice has not at all been sacrificed over the years. Actually, he seems to have gained much more control over time, particularly in live settings.
