Kristy K Too bad for you but Lisa Kelly was the one who brought this song to the whole new level of rising popularity thanks to her pure and haunting voice. In fact, the success of Celtic Woman was partially due to her "cringeworthy" high notes (according to your definition) in this signature song. Much better than the original performance of Eimear Quinn. Lisa Kelly was the reason why I and many became fans of Celtic Woman and her contribution to the ensemble is never insignificant and trivial (8 out of 10 years of Celtic Woman's existence). This song is based on Celtic paganism and Lisa Kelly perfectly portrays that image of a Celtic goddess speaking to mankind (just an analogy for I am a non-believer). I take it that Lisa's voice, which is classically trained instead of Susan's musical training, is not your cup of tea but it does not mean that it's a cringeworthy performance. Having said that, I personally enjoy Susan's rendition as well but it does not bring out the "chilling and haunting quality" that I look for in this song. It's good but not unique anymore. Wow. Both are amazing. I did not think anyone could match Kelly, but McFadden does an amazing job. In fact, I think her voice is more powerful. However, I still like Kelly's version the best. There is something very special about her voice.

Though I commend Susan on a job well done, this song (or at least this style of it) will definitely always be Lisa’s. I feel like the mistake on David’s part was having them try to sing in the exact same style; Susan had to go on after a performance like Lisa’s. In this song style, Lisa is truly “the voice” while Susan is more of just an echo trying to catch up with the original. Susan sounded much better in the 2017 live recording, because they changed the style of the song’s instruments to better suit her voice. It was never that Susan wasn’t good; her voice is just different than Lisa’s and the two shouldn’t be compared to each other. Away from that, the editing on this video is spectacular and the seamless transition from one lady to another is just flawless. (Sorry for my bad English. It’s not my first language.)

I love the way you put this together, you did an excellent job. As to who's best, the answer is... Both! They both have their strong and weak points, so ten out of ten to both ladies. Lisa has always been my favourite Celtic woman, but Susan did an amazing job taking over and filling the massive hole that Lisa left when she departed. Both ladies are top notch professionals!
