The 2023/24 EFL Championship season has now finished for Birmingham City and already Blues fans are eagerly looking at social media and other news outlets for information about who the new manager will be and which players the club have been linked too. Most Blues fans have come to terms with the fact that the Blues will be starting in EFL League One next season after relegation and are now looking forward to the new season already.
In this unscripted podcast we discuss our thoughts on what is going on at the club at the moment and consider a number of reasons why there is plenty of room for optimism. We talk with honesty and from the heart as we give our thoughts and opinions as we try to represent the word on the terraces.

Spending lots of money doesn't guarantee success. Laying foundations and getting the big decisions right on the pitch are important. Next season will be far from easy ! KRO.

Thank you for your comment David. You are right, it’s about getting the right building blocks including the manager and players in place. After the manager is appointed we will see a lot of new players arrive and it is as much about there attitude and temperament as well as their ability that the club should be looking at. KRO

I just think we need to be patient as they will get it right this time with who they pick as a manager as well as the players we need. I’m sure Tony Has give them some guidance as to who best to replace him with for the future of the club.

The bulk of the expenditure on a stadium will be when construction starts and it will take 18 to 24 months to be ready for that. We will be at the top of the championship by then.

With everything involved in building a new stadium I think it will be 6-7 years before the new stadium is completed by which time we will be in a much better position on the pitch. The owners here are ambitious and know what they want so I’m confident they will deliver. KRO

As Brian dick said "it depends what the brief is". Do we want a team to get us straight back up or do we want a team that plays possession based pretty football and stick to the principle.

We should not be rumored with any player until the manager being appointed. He has to make the decisions on players based upon his playing style and what he wants from players. It’s not rocket science

Thanks Robbie! Absolutely and it made me think about the retain list. Did Mowbray possibly have more of a say in this than we think as he was technically still on sick leave or was it more the recruitment / staff? I hate the idea of people organising transfers without the managers buy in. There are a few clubs that have structures like this now too. I believe at Forest the recruitment and staff have an overwhelmingly huge say in the transfers. Seems odd and the wrong way round to me... Very best, KRO!

I'm glad we havnt rushed a new manager, transfer window isnt open for a couple of weeks yet so we definitely have a bit of time to pick the right guy. I just hope its not lampard or Cole.

Id personally give Lampard a go. He is still raw in terms of young managers and has only failed really at Everton but doesn't everybody that goes there. I think Blues will be seen as a huge opportunity for him.

It's a tiny detail in the context of where we are and the need for a new manager but good observation none the less :) I also agree with trying to get younger / future fans through the door, this could be huge moving forward and we need to incentives the next generation with the misery of the past 14 years! The longer they take to choose a new manager the better, there is no rush as the TW is not open until the 14th June, so whoever takes over could be introducing himself (or herself .....wouldn't that be a curveball?) to players next week and the following week they could be gone! Maybe wait until the TW is open and find out who is left at the club? then get a manager in

Thanks, Michael! It's year on year, isn't it. Last season I think they launched 2 weeks before the season started. Fair enough that was a new sponsor with the new owners but c'mon, give us something to get excited about and time to buy them before the season starts! There is a pop-up shop in the Kop at the moment whilst work continues. Not 100% sure when the shop opens again, good question. Very best, KRO!

Thanks for commenting :) I don't believe it's on ice, I just think the owners have such a huge eye on revenue if we are going to be spending 5-10 years at the stadium whilst it's under construction then they want to make these improvements to create a better match-day experience which ultimately leads to people spending more money there. I believe we have good players the back four with belik in there the midfield myoshi paik keshi. What we need is strikers to put the ball in the net if you look what we have with the youngsters Dixon Hall Donavan and a manager to set the stall how we want to play we have more than enough to get out of that division . The likes of dembele bacuna sanderson Pritchard laird if they are not prepared to work hard for the team they know where the door is. Based on the performances against cardiff Huddersfield Rotherham not good enough.

Thank you for your comment. I think we will see a number of the contracted players leave over the summer so I’m sure some of those players you mention will not be there at the start of the season. So we are going to need a lot of new players and I think every position needs strengthening. KRO

Still gutted about Mowbray I think he was the perfect man. Interesting you say about Frank Lampard as he doesn't seem a hugely popular choice from what I am seeing across social and every day that goes past the rumours seem to be getting stronger for Alex Neil. Want them to take their time with the manager, the only clubs signing players are signing released players on free transfers, the window isn’t even officially open yet We will be paying fees for players, we will take our time and I think that’s right though pre season training starting in early July so there’s plenty to look at No problem at all KRO
