The Voices Behind The Bad Guys

The Bad Guys is jam-packed with a solid cast of actors. Most haven’t done a whole lot of voice acting, except for Alex Borstein. The cast was able to record together, luckily. After the few years voice actors have had, we’re sure they’re glad to be in a studio playing off of each other. Sam Rockwell’s been in another animated movie with guinea pigs, except last time he was one. Problematically, he forgot that he worked on another movie with one of his co-stars. Richard Ayoade was a perfect casting choice for Professor Marmelade. He usually plays food or animals. Awkwafina was happy to play a character who knows what she’s doing. Craig Robinson tried to improvise and they didn’t let the poor guy, but he found his own way to improvise anyway. Marc Maron admits to mostly just playing himself. Hey, if it works, it works! Why change it? Anthony Ramos got an awesome addition to his character pretty last-minute in the process. Zazie Beetz absolutely adored being able to use her eyebrows. Now you might be thinking “what do eyebrows have to do with voice acting?” A lot! Lilly Singh is another actor with an expressive face. She was happy to not have to hide that and even happier that her character reflected her so well. And Alex Borstein, who’s played Lois on Family Guy forever, really enjoyed the depth of her character. Sounds like all of the female voice actors were either loving the self-expression or the depth of plots. Let’s have more of this, please! DreamWorks choose to have a more cartoony style instead of their usual realistic animation. It has likeable characters especially Wolf, Snake, Tarantula, Shark, Piranah, Diane and Marmalade was an interesting villain because we were expecting him to be the real villain, but the other half we thought he was genuinally nice. It also has some surprising twists we wasn't expecting but enjoyed. Anyway, I really enjoyed this movie and is definitely one of my favorites from DreamWorks.
