Yeah, Julian Casablancas is true composer of music. It’s his background . To speak to your last question about mysterious lyrics: one of the lyrics to another The Voidz song: “Where No Eagles Fly”, is as follows: “The rhythm is for you, but the song is for me The meaning might be secret but the melody is free”. And of course, even The Strokes early albums lyrics where super mysterious to me. I was watching VH1 with my friend one day in later 2001 when the music video for Last Nite -The Strokes came one. I never looked back.

Ppl complaining about Julian answering "yes" - the question she asked was really generic and a yes/no question, which is a horrible way to open an interview. Typically, yes/no questions are sprinkled in throughout an interview to clarify or enhance. "Was it fun to make?" I could never imagine asking an artist/band that. *"No it was NOT fun! Hated making it!"* Like, seriously lol. She would have been better off asking something like, "What was a memorable moment in the making of _" or, instead of listing her interpretation of influences, ask what their inspiration/influences we're drawn from
