Good video 👍 I love Voightlander lenses. I have multiple copies of the 21mm f4 Color Skopar snd 25mm f4 Snapshot Skopar Ltm lenses. Tiny and crisp modern lenses for Film photography.

Voigtlander is about to release a Nokton 28mm f1.5 and it looks amazing. Much smaller than 28mm Summilux. Will be interesting to see a head-to-head with the Thypoch 28mm f1.4

Probably my favorite lens for the M-system ! (I use it on a M11) , Thanks a lot for the video and I really enjoyed your diaporama, the little sound and the photos were great ! It actually makes me think again about trying the Analog M experience, because I really felt the difference of feelings by looking on the film photos versus the digital. I mean, the digital are great, but there was a little something on the film ones :)

Nice! I didn’t love my copy of the APO, despite it being an amazing lens it was just a bit too perfect for me. Both are objectively fantastic lenses though!

How do you think this would compare against the CV 28mm f2.8 Color Skopar Type II? Not as fast but much smaller.

Lots of street photographers love that lens! It’s probably not as technically sound, but still an awesome lens especially on the street

Nice lens frank, i think u meant the 0.58 mag viewfinder instead of 0.85 since the former will accommodate the 28mm frameline better than thr 0.72 while the latter will diminish 28mm frame line once n for all, but i used 28mm on my 0.85 and just having the guesstimate since focus patch in the middle matters more to me

the 28mm summicron (newest non close focus version), is better than the 35mm summicron and probably my favorite Leica lens. I don't think you mentioned if you've tried the summicron, but it's not just about sharpness, also handling and color. Like you mentioned, the fact there is no indicator when you go to the close focus range makes it a dealbreaker on film.

Better in what way? They’re both great and in my mind, it’s just a matter of focal length preference. Yeah I have tried the 28 cron! Amazing lens but just expensive. Agree though, they need to just add a stop at 0.7 and then I’d have zero complaints about this lens.

I think there is one thing this lens can't do, which is vignetting, like most of the Voigtlander lenses.

Agreed, there’s a vignette. Most 28mm have one. The only one I’ve found that does an amazing job of controlling it is the 2.8 Elmarit, and that’s why I love that lens so much.

​@@FrankDavalos yes, sure, all lenses have some vignette wide open. But it has been widely identified that Ultrons, both 35 and 28, vignette quite much, I had 35 ultron personally and I have seen it, compared to 35 summicron. Not an issue for portraits, but low light shooting indors it just eats a portion of frame. That's a compromise for this price. Voigtlander lenses are really sharp and nicely build, but vignette is a problem on most of them, since they construct really fast and really small.

@@FrankDavalos by the way, did you use any other 28mm lens? In your newest vid about MP there are some photos, like in the 13:00 time mark, which I think might be 28mm? (or is it a 35?). What lens did you use? Seems quite fast and quite sharp in the same time.

Also agree, the vignette is the price you pay! For the most part, it didn’t bother me on the 28mm Ultron, so some reason it bothers me more on the 35mm Voigtlander or even the 50mm Lux. That being said, I’ve recently started noticing how much I don’t like vignetting because it’s so apparent on slide film. I wonder how I might feel using the 28 Ultron now that I’ve had the Elmarit for a year

Yes I now use the 28mm Elmarit f2.8. It’s my fav 28 lens by far. So well corrected, sharp as hell (sometimes too sharp but for film it’s a real benefit) and so dang small and perfect. That photo you’re referring to is from Elmarit!

The Elmarit is amazing although I feel like it’s a little too small. I might one day get the summicron, not because of the extra stop but to make it more comfortable to focus. Also regarding frame lines, glasses, viewfinder magnification. I am (was) in the same boat. But I got an external 28mm viewfinder and it’s great. Obviously only really works for zone focussing but it’s really enjoyable to have that oldschool decoupled rangefinder viewfinder combo. And it works perfectly with glasses

Yeah I could see that, it is a really small lens. I also have a Leica 28 finder and that’s exactly how I use it! It is def my fav way to use a 28mm. I even used it without glasses haha
