The reason why Washijo-Sensei denies the fact that hinata is a force, is because he does not want to admit that there are ways to fight even if you are small. This takes him back when he was a player himself. The time when Washijo-Sensei was a player, there was not a libero position at the time. That’s why he got picked over a tall player, so instead of training to get better, he gave up and accepted that bigger will always be stronger, that’s why he denies hinata because hinata will do everything he can with his small body to fight anyone head on and he does not want to know that there are possible ways to fight even if you are small since he gave up back then.

11:44 Well, Ushiwaka and Oikawa are the top dogs in the prefecture in terms of jump serve. They've been doing that since middle school. Then comes Kageyama. Asahi just started using the jump serve (so he's still a noob), so it's not really disrespectfully that he doesn't get the kick ass animation that Ushiwaka and Oikawa got.😂

Ushijima put his hand out to acknowledge Tsukishima's return. It's kind of a "Hey man, I'm glad that you're okay and while I'm not sorry for the spike, I didn't want for you to get hurt." (I honestly found him really admirable in this. Sometimes we had opponents (or their parents) that would downright be nasty and laugh if you got injured mid-game.) While I'm not 100% on board with Shiratorizawa's style of play, I do think that it's right to say that we are seeing this from the lens of Karasuno as protagonist team. It's absolutely true that this system has gotten them to Nationals numerous times, so it's not an ineffective system, per se. I personally think the best teams are those that are more on-the-fly and adaptable, but that's a preference. And I think Haikyuu! gives us a good amount of volleyball perspectives, and while it may favor Karasuno's (because they are our protagonist team), it doesn't outright negate other systems. Plus, Karasuno picked a lot of their adaptable system from the systems of other teams, so it's clear that multiple systems are effective. Ultimately, it's the players on a team that help determine it's system as well. We could easily say a system like Karasuno's wouldn't fit the players on Shiratorizawa and vice versa. The end of this episode always gives me chills. Can't wait for your reaction to the finale!

It's just that someone like Ushijima is on his way to going pro, no one in Karasuno except for Kageyama has a realistic shot at it. For someone like him it is probably better to just form them to be the perfect blank player if that makes sense.

Libero wasn't even a position back then, so even that venture was closed. · *Now* , in this environment, where shorter players are accepted if they have skills; if Hinata fails then it'll validate the 40 years of Washijo's career as a coach. ---- But, on the flip side, if Hinata succeeds, then it means that *if* Washijo wasn't denied the opportunity to play, then maybe even he could've become a great player like Hinata is.

What I really love at 5:30, is that Hinata reacts to a setup from the other team quicker while Tsukki doesn't. Which I think is really cool at showing sort of their difference in blocking ability hinato would fall for faints while Tsukki is very read blocking obviously so he would take a little bit longer but would generally save them

I wanna watch this now but I can't- The aTroCiTy. ANYWAYS, BE HERE IN 7 HOURS. Edit: The reactions to all the little moments in this are so cute HHAHAHA. The reaction to Iwa calling Oikawa crappy and telling him to choose btw that or shitty made me fking cackle. I wheezed when Ushi got called a super volleyball idiot and Ian was like👀 While the whole thing about the battle between the concepts of the two teams is very subjective, I believe that it all depends on the players they have on the team ahaha. Recklessly attacking like Karasuno (of course, using their very effective weapons), wouldn't necessarily be the best style of play for, say, a team like Seijoh or even Shiratorizawa. I really agree with what Ian said on this, Hinata is kind of an anomaly and I like that he acknowledged the fact that Haikyuu is letting us look in on the context of the anime through Karasuno as the main protagonists. Poor Coach Washijou(Tanji), he really just decided to give up because he believed that taller is always better. Then again, his strategy has been effective for almost three years, so I'd say that it's only natural that bigger is better is one of the more accurate decrees of nature. HOWEVER, when has man ever been known to stick to the natural path lol. Anyways, can't wait for tmr but I'm sad that y'all are done with Season 3. Time to look forward to Season 4 and cry when you guys are done with that amazing season too. Also, if anyone tells y'all that Season 4's animation is bad, don't believe them pls. It's far from bad, it's just that the animators decided to follow the manga's art style a bit more and also to show some growth of the boys (100% cutie Hinata where?). Coach washijo did give his all I guess! He was better at receives than the other guys in his team! It was shown in the flashback in the background that the tall guy chosen was not able to even receive properly yet chosen over him! But then again it's kinda childish too a little!
