Because of the emissions issue many equipment owners as well as owners of diesel pickups are keeping and even gravitating "back" to some of the older equipment to avoid the unreliable issues that come with the newer stuff. I'm keeping my older stuff as long as I can get parts to keep them going. Pre "DEF" diesel trucks and tractors in my area are highly sought after.

I’m still running my 2000 F350 (not that big deal as mostly retired now) but I can work on it and the engine is bullet proof. My two new small tractors are both under 99 HP as well for that reason and have me DPF on them just an EGR crap.

Been there. When things get so bad all you can do is laugh about it and wait for the next blow The emissions are why the price of older machines are going up. I was the old guy in the shop that told the kids cordless impacts were a phase and not going to work. I am now retired (early due to back injury) and finally peaked my head out of under the rock and only use cordless at home and working on projects at my current part time job.

You might be happy to know that You are not the only one that has a bad day, week or month. I’ve been restoring a 1976 MGB and it seems that every time I fix one thing something else breaks or I put something on wrong that requires me to take 4 steps back and replace a part I broke. The last part broken was the center section of the clutch which destroyed the clutch. Good luck with getting the Deere back in operation.

I was a die hard DeWalt fan in my early construction days. I first comparison between the DeWalt and Milwaukee was the screw gun. I found in many aspects I loved my M12 3/8” screw gun, later Milwaukee came out with combo kit with a 1/4” Hex impact driver and M12 3/8” drill/driver. I bought 2 combo kits and that was at least 4 years ago and I have not broken into my second kit. I remodeled a 8 stall horse barn exterior wood, built two 12’ by 8’ doors and two sets of those and many remodels. Impressive little screw gun. Then they obviously came out with bigger batteries as they came out after the M12. I know longer have DeWalt products. Again, my testimony and my opinion. Thank you for sharing with us your issues and awesome light show!

As usual I am an old man of 74 and I really enjoy Your Expertise and Man behind the scene how well You work together and again how well Your shop works for You. I still do oil changes on our family’s 4 cars and brake jobs and yes mufflers until TESLAS come. Now I was amazed your shafts being sourced from 2 countries in EUROPE. DOES JD make slightly different OEM parts or is their aftermarket parts there instead of CHINA. Wow, You have a lot of unique jobs like Stadium Seating and l have IR IMPACT and mostly MILWAUKEE 9 and 12 volt battery and the big 120 volt Hole Hawg & mag drill press and 12 “ compound Miter saw in both Brands. I have the 200 amp MILLER MIG and all the the rest of tools in multiples for building a structural steel frame house. I have over $40,000 of tools and MAKITA has the best 1/2” drill on the market along with my other favourite 5” 12 amp powerful grinder with slim body You can use with one hand because of soft start. My next purchase will be Milwaukee 1/2” impact that you can dial in torque adjustment. I know a lot about tools and selected HUNDREDS of thousand dollars to be bought by purchasing departments of construction companies I have worked for not including Fork Lifts, Stinger Trucks, and cable pulling equipment. I very much respect Your 15 years spent as a big residential contractor before Your excavating business. For Me I get the most satisfaction watching Your Mechanical skills in action.in Your Shop. My other passion is everything Elon does starting with SHANGHAI, BERLIN, & now AUSTIN watching the biggest earth moving show on KZbin with 40 CAT BELLY SCRAPERS and EXCAVATORS, DOZERS, DRILLS PACKERS, WATER TRUCKS totalling another 100 pieces all CATERPILLAR. One big very interesting commercial for CATERPILLAR and 150 highway tractors hauling 20 yard Bottom Dump Trailers all working for RANGER CONSTRUCTION. Ok only Elon is My GOD with SPACEX, and TESLA taking over the battery industry totally with 4680 cell, but the biggest development is the BETA TESLA FSD now being demonstrated on U TUBE every day that is very safe and watching the car operating all by itself with colour screen showing in Technicolor what the computer sees and actions taken with no deaths or even a fender bender. My GOD THIS SHOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE. The testing has being going on for more than a week and TESLA is not in control of other cars. I HAVE TO WAIT FOR 2 YEARS FOR MY CYBERTRUCK.

Thanks, I enjoy listening to you talking about one of my favorite subjects. I believe that my first JD tractor was a 110 which if that is what it was, had a temperamental electric lift and a thin deck that needed repair and I welded it for rust. I traded that for a new 185 which may not be classified as a garden tractor. However, it is still used by a family member to cut an acre of grass. Before I gave the 185 away, I picked up a 1987, JD 318, in 1990, which I have maintained and it looks like new and is used on 1.5 acres. Was my first tractor likely to have been a 110, from what I have said? Thanks

You've definitely had a rough go of breakdowns. Like you said You've been really lucky not having any problems and then they just all hit you at the same time. I switched all of my cordless tools over to Milwaukee about 7 years ago after borrowing a friends Milwaukee tools. I have a high torque 1/2" Milwaukee that puts out 1400 foot pounds of torque that's about the same size body of that Dewalt you just got. I've actually changed the tires on my Peterborough with it, very awesome tool. They also have a 1" impact I'm sure You've seen. Awesome video Mike!

Hey change the liquid filter part each time you do a oil change. DEF crystallizes in the tank and filler tube. Clogs the line to the particular filter which in turn gives codes and deregulation. The crystals don’t completely redesolve when introducing new fluids.

Mike I love your videos. Keep them coming. I did almost the same thing to the windshield in the Cat 316 I run. I was pulling an old stump that wasn't coming as easy as I wanted it suddenly released. When it did a 1 inch branch laying in the tall grass was lanched from a root and hit in the bottom left corner making a neet little star. As for the impact the air gun is much faster in free spin but you need to be careful as this can gall the threads. Just something I learned the hard way while working for a farm dealership.

You have to make sure your rakers are set below the cutting edges of the chainsaw teeth. About 1/16th to 1/32nd of an inch is appropriate. It's a common mistake people make when sharpening chains. They forget the rakers need a few swipes of a flat file sometimes. The best way to tell is to put a metal straight edge along the top of the chainsaw teeth and look carefully at the drop of the rakers.

If you want to run a REAL impact 18 volt impact. Milwaukee does sell different versions of their 1/2 inch impact guns. Their top dog right now does 1400 foot pounds of loosening torque and 1000 foot pounds of tightening torque. I have this version and have easily broken bolts with it. If you have heavy machinery, this is the one to go with. Make sure to use the 12.0 battery as that helps as well.

Remember when I was a apprentice mechanic for a heavy plant firm I as you do as a apprentice got the shit jobs and always got splashed like you did until they literally got sick of me traipsing oil into the wash room some guy said open the top first dip shit lol. On the dpf here in the UK we had nothing but hassle with them on every engine equipped with a dpf system from every part from EGRcooler to sender units doser even had full addblue tanks crystallize solid the solution boiling hot water and ran on a full purge cycle it worked most are now deleted they cost the earth to repair and funny enough all still pass emission tests tell me how that works any how getting a long comment love the videos love the guys and live the crack/banter

Man, I am sorry to hear about that week. But it seems you are getting the issues resolved a few at a time.

Yep, there's oil in there. Lol I know what that's like, because I've had it from neck down standing under a trany with the bolts out the pan when it finally fell off after prying on it for 10 minutes. It let go and I was covered in 90 weight.

You need to check the "park brake cluthes" for the JD 120. You should not have been able to rotate the track as you did with the engine off. The "park brake" is spring applied/hydraulic released.

I'm glad I purchased a pre-emission excavator and I'm glad I didn't buy a cordless impact! Thanks for the video Mike! Stay positive!
