I own to this day a 2008 S60 2.0lt 5cylinder petrol (180hp) and I agree that the car is brilliant. The only "major" fix in 16 years was that I changed at the Volvo dealership the timing belt. Today the car has 220,000km (125,000 miles) and seriously every year I think to sell it and buy a new one, but there are not cars like this anymore.. Therefore I keep it and I am happy.. Your video was GREAT.. congrats..

I had an S60 AWD with a 2.4 5cyl turbo engine, 200 hp. I have kept it for 7 years, then replaced it with an S80 V8. I think this S60 may be the best car I have ever owned. It was so confident, so smooth, so comfortable. Only old jeans or sneakers can deliver such a feel-good sensations. Snow, ice, slush, rain or heat, it felt so safe on any kind of roads. Now I regret I never had the beautiful S60R version, which sounds like a small V10.

I have a Volvo S60 R from '04, it's the best car I've ever had by far, the best mix of fast and comfortable you could ask for, the interior feels especially premium for a fast version of a sedan. It also still feels modern, being very well spec'd.

This video absolutely rings true with me. Having owned some 26 cars in my driving career, 11 of them Volvos - I currently have a 2005 V70 in the same Titanium Grey as your lovely S60. I have had this car over 5 years now which is an absolute record for me and I have zero intention of getting rid either. She's just clocked 192k miles and going string. I've got the NA 2.4 petrol and shes punts along nicely thanks to the abundance of torque of the 5 cylinder. I will be doing a 5 year ownership review on my channel soon! I often show people the ECC concept as an example of incredible car design and to me the P2 family are some of the best looking cars ever designed. I love also how the key is shaped like a V70 - details matter! And yes totally agree on those seats. Fantastic video.

'Gloria' is in my picture - 2005 S60 T5 Sport with a 6 speed manual 'Space-ball' gearbox. Bought her in 2017, spent £20K on her - modifications, general maintenance etc...I am thinking of selling her due to a foot issue I have and buying an automatic. In the nearly 8 years I have had her though I don't think any other car could have given me the same experiences. You just bond with some things, I guess. Essentially, I had her rebuilt better than Volvo could have done (given their budgets/cost restraints). People say I should have bought a 2013 C63 AMG but my argument to them is always...1) I was 51 (now 58) and didn't want to look like a silly, middle-aged man; 2) I wanted to save a piece of automotive history; 3) My money...I'll do what I want:). Fantastic cars with personality.

I owned a 2017 S60 and it was the most amazing car I have had. I live in New England and we are known for our treacherous winters. When I got the car I put Cooper All Season Mags for all 4 wheels. In the middle of the first winter that I own the vehicle, I was going over a mountain and everybody else was going off the road and sliding around doing 360s and I was just tooling down the road. I have never been afraid of the vehicles, however in my S 60, I was snug as a bug. I never felt safer. I love that car and if possible someday I will own another.

I owned an s60, 2.4 200PS AWD you are 100% on point. Finding parts is a nightmare in Germany too. That’s also the reasons why I just recently sold my C5 Exclusive Tourer too, nobody knows or wants to work on them anymore. I’ll stick to my 2 Audis B6 (2004 1.9TDI) and B9 (2016 2.0 TDI 190PS s-tronic) and my E46 330xi (2002) for wich Parts are almost never a problem here… it’s sad but it is what it is.

This is a perfect Comfortable Car Club video. A very interesting overview of the S60 and its history. It seems to me it has aged very well and honestly in these dark days of SUVs, one views the sedans of the past quite a bit more fondly than one used to. I grew up with a boxy Volvo 240 estate as the family car and have always been fond of those Swedish blocks of steel and had become very familiar with changing fanbelts. I just never knew them after they started to move upmarket with the 700 and 900 series. As BMWs seem to attract douchebags, Volvos seem attract eccentrics, and as an eccentric myself, I have always been drawn towards them. I always notice Volvos on the road, I respect Volvo's design philosophy, my neighbor owns a brand new Volvo. The president of my country owns a Volvo. It's a car brand one either "gets" or doesn't, it's very polarizing. What surprised me the most to learn in this video is that the S60 was such a comfortable car to sit in, and as such a perfect car to feature at the Comfortable Car Club.

Funny thing was I was after an S80. Unfortunately the car was stolen in 2003 and I bought a 53my for 2.3k,I got 3.6k off the insurance who offered me 1600 for it. I've had it since March it's only done136k, 98k when I got it, I only do around town, 44mpg, but I love the car. I've never had a problem with either car,never topped the oil up at all. Apart from wishbones, brakes and some suspension parts it's original. I stockpiled volvo and oem parts from 06 after reading common problems so have saved money that way I do my own servicing and use VIDA for guidance. I love the car and no squeaks from any interior parts, the bodywork has dents and scratches and a scar from a collision with an audi, which happily passed away and was stretchered off to the scrap yard. I love the car and will keep it til it's not viable but its got plenty of life left in it and has everything I need from a car.

After getting my license, I bought an old Polo, then an old Mégane Coupé, got an accident, then another (facelift) Mégane Coupé.. and all because I couldn't afford a Volvo. But then, I could.. and I had three S60's. I bought them with 300-350k km on the clock, on LPG, and loved every bit of them. Beautiful, modest yet luxurious, comfortable, built like a tank. The first was a stick shifter and got traded in for an automatic, which I ran until I messed up the gearbox by flushing it wrong. Then, my third, was almost perfect. Had to abandon it when I got my first (business) lease car, and today I lease a Polestar 2, which is a bit of a spiritual successor to the S60. But I miss my S60 every day still. To me, the successor was the 2nd S80, definitely not the 2nd S60 which looks off for some reason. If I ever have to buy another car and can't afford the Polestar, I'd definitely look for the current gen S60/V60.

I had 5 of them...the S80s...:) That´s how much I loved that car! I still keep an eye on them and if I find one in a good shape I might buy it again. The later versions of the S80 and especially S60, under the Ford ownership, I do not like at all. However, the modern ones, that´s another story! Anyway, old love doesn´t rust, does it? :)

I used to own a 2009 S60 2.5T , I think it was one of the latest P2 S60. It had all the bells and whistles, BLIS, Premium audio, sunroof, Sovereign Hide leather seats and the beautiful Xenon lights. It was a dark blue (magic blue 467), I think it is the most beautiful paintjob available on the S60. As I travelled more and more for work, I sold the S60 for a 2013 V40 as it was more economical. Which I regretted within 1 month, it felt like a huge downgrade. I regret to this day selling that car.. P.s. Totally agree on the seats, I have yet to sit in a car with better seats than the S60/V70.

I currently own a late 2005 S80. For me, here in the UK the S60 of this generation is a little too common as I often see them around. Its also too small for my liking [But then my first car was a long wheel base BMW 7 Series so maybe I’m just used to barges] however, what you do get is agility and more power because the engines are the same but the weight of the car is of course less. Overall, the S80 makes for a lovely car that for many would tick all their boxes and then some. A shame saloons like these are history with modern tastes for SUVs

My dad had 2 s60´s, both d5 diesel, bought new. The first one, he had for 5 or 6 years, the second one (facelifted version with spaceball gearshift) for twelve years. The sound of the engine is very distinct, I know it´s a s60/v70 only by hearing it. I drove it a couple times, it has a lot of torque and the most comfortable seats ever. He now has the v40. Seats are almost equally comfortable, but I found the s60 more distinguished. Albeit without the black rims, those do not suit the car at all

03:40 Good thing you didnt but the diesel. Early years of the 2.4D were troublesome. Best option was the very first production units with the last installment of the indestructible 2.5TDI Audi unit. Later they fixed somewhat the 2.4D only to be ruined in the 2nd gen (I own one). Overall the petrols were the best option for the P2 generation as a whole. PS: Volvo and Saab are leagues ahead of the others in terms of seats.

Plus it runs on ethanol which cost 0.75€/L in France, by consuming 9 to 10L/100km the cost is close to a diesel engine that consume a lot less fuel. For less than 50€ i can do 650km easy. The build quality of the car is very good too, mine has the "momentum" package and its feel lik the quality of material used is a lots beter than my previous daily car : a peugeot 607 2.2hdi from 2001 with a more luxurious interior, a car that was the equivalent of an S80 at the time (this car was also a prudy good car, but for sure now i wouldn't exchange my volvo for a peugeot)

@ yes i can imagine. They have a lifetime of 10 years according to citroen. Would be quite interesting, since many people say they got that magic carpet ride back. I have a 2013 c5 so it‘s kinda due. The suspension feels good but i remember back when it was new, the ride was indeed different. Sadly, new spheres are getting rarer by the day. Especially original ones. So i‘ll have to replace them in the near future.

I bought an 11 year old S60 D5 with 66000 miles on the clock in England. I had the car for 4 and a half years, put another 60000 miles on it and had absolutely zero problems with it. It was one of the best cars I ever owned, the engine was superb, the gearbox smoot, the handling brilliant, the build quality second to none. I sold it because after I moved back to my homeland and driving a car with the steering wheel on the right in RHD traffic got on my nerves. Every time you want to take out a parking pass you have to get out of the car and you look like a dork. I bought a P2 S80 D3 after and in every aspect it's an inferior car to the S60.

Same experience. In Slovenia. Bought an immaculate 210 PS S60 2.5T in 2010, 180kkm, for, hard to believe, €6k and made further joyful 400kkm, a lot of that on German Autobahns, swapped it for a diesel C30 in 2019. What a mistake. Yes, the S60 was an absolute beatuy, much, much nicer than the S80 at the time. Unfortunately, mine was black, so all that beauty remained somehow unpronounced. A blue or a silver one would have been much better. The V70 of the time was not much worse and definitely the best looking +/-modern Volvo estate. None of its successors (and especially not the V60 following) could ever match its proportions. Back to my S60, although its maintenance proved way cheaper than some German or French competitors', it was not without its problems. I had to change its steering column once. But, what proved fatal, was parking it one hot, sunny summer day between two glass buildings with a certain computer unit getting burnt as a result. It recovered - somehow repaired itself, but never fully. The exchange would cost me €1250, but I sold it instead. What a mistake, as I say.

@comcarclub tuned B5244T3 (a.k.a 2.4T) with a M56 (5 speed manual) transmission.. I'm running a stage 1 BSR Tune, which has bumped up the power from 200ps and 285Nm to 250ps and 410Nm (roughly 80Nm more than the B5234T3, 10Nm more than the last D4 diesel, about the same as the B5254T4 in the M66 equipped R). It's probably worth mentioning that I was primarily running on 98 octane (Ron) with the E5 mixture (possibly lower octane due to fuel degradation) when I recorded that fuel consumption. I quite like these cars, and I want to do more to it.. but due to financial constraints, it is not that extreme, just quick enough for me to give the average Swedish BMW driver a little surpise. But on the other hand, you really can't complain with B5244S2, fuel consumption when you are running 110ps and 190Nm more, plus I like that the Turbo comes on fairly early. Sorry for the long reply, it is just that when it comes to P2 platform Volvos, I can quite literally talk about them all day.
@klaspeppar5619Ай бұрын
@comcarclub short answer, since it seems my longer answer got caught in the YT comments filter, I have no idea why.. But it has a BSR stage 1 tuned B5244T3 (2.4T), making 250ps and 410Nm.

Maybeit is just me that when someone say that Volvo does that, Volkswagen does that, Audi does that, Skoda does that I say that French does it but more creatively, Italian does it but with more inspiration and Japanese just does it better.
@18_rabbitАй бұрын
yeah it did have a good look, though perhaps i'd have tweaked it just slightly, dunno. Some of the Volvo's since have design issues or flaws, and the more recent gen has gone against Nordic/scandi design i think, & done a nordic version of corporate style, as if doing sort of what Bmw did around '12 on w/ sedans, albeit Volvo has done a vastly better job, though quality is through the floor unfortunately.
