I can only respect this decision. Not only do you grow older and gravitate towards more sim/complex games, but your audience-including me-grows older too. I have just given up on too many KZbinrs I watched in the past who haven't changed with their audience. Essentially, I've outgrown them. Seeing the comments below, I am not the only one who likes this change of content and I hope it gets some traction! Awesome work and Keep it up fellow Dutch fighter pilot!

Here's my issue with DCS. I have invested well over $1000 in controllers, $3600 in the most capable gaming rig, another $500 in VR gear, $4-500 in modules, 100s of hours over years watching Wags, Spudknocker and torniquet tutorial videos. (this is probably conservative compared to others who 'play' this.) In the end, I can fly a hornet, an Mi-24, a p-51 Mustang, and an A-10. I can mid-air refuel, and I can land on carriers, I can destroy enemies.....when it flipping works.... which is about 1/3 of the time. I'm busy, I don't have 8 hours each day to monkey around with fixing what is broken today...or every time Meta/Windows/Nvidia/Eagle Dynamics pushes an update. On the days when all of the planets align and this VERY expensive enterprise bears some precious little entertainment fruit, I find myself uninspired by the lack of story, action and engagement of the experience. There simply isn't anything to really do in this game once you've learned all of the systems and can actually fly the plane. Air combat without your life on the line it turns out, is excruciatingly boring. Call of Duty on the other hand, admittedly took a couple of years to get really good at, but every time I boot it up, it works, It's pretty easy, it's fiercely competitive, the action is frantic and it entertains unfailingly. It's highly unimaginative, but so is drinking, and Billions of people love that for relaxation!

As a long time DCS player and someone who has sunk a few thousand hours into it and has made some content about it, don't feel bad for calling it a game, because that's what it is, a game. If you press Esc and press quit to desktop, the prompt itself will tell you it's a game. Even Wags (Matt Wagner, you'll know who he is eventually) calls it a game.

Flight simulators in VR are a game changer. With the extremely quick start up (talking the Meta Quest 2 and 3 here from personal experience) its barely more hassle than setting up your joystick now. Long gone are the days of having sensors set up in the room, and having to spend ages configuring the headset. If you have a rig that can run them smoothly it's the new way to fly sims IMO.

If you are serious about it. Get the standalone. The steam version sucks and doesn't have sales. The standalone still has the same player base but you can also test drive vehicles for free in MP so you can see if you like a vehicle before spending money on it since every plane is about $70

I caught the bug myself a few years ago. Only advice I have is to pay attention to your AOA. That bracket to the left of your Vc is your AOA. Once you hit like 165 knots or so, trim nose up until your Vc is towards the middle of that bracket, then use your throttle to control your pitch. It'll make landing, especially on carriers, so much easier.

It helps to talk to ATC in the COMM menu. Request an Azimuth. Keep doing it and it’ll guide your landing pattern. You can also just turn the landing lights on, switch to the carrier’s view with F9, and spot where your plane is to guide yourself to a strait landing.
@fabriziocagni98358 ай бұрын
Your video is really great. As a professional pilot the only suggestion that I have is that when you have a marshall giving you signal turn off your nose light or he will not even be able to see your aircraft. Besides that.. it’s perfect!

Anyway, I do remember the production quality, my favorite thing being your personal integration of dialogue for the protagonist. It was clever, and well timed. In a nutshell, keep it up man; especially if you love doing it. Your comedy content has a great, twisted charm; and your cinematic content has a very thespian charm. Love it.
@randallmacdonald48518 ай бұрын
I've been flying the F/A-18c Hornet for three or four years now. The things you see and felt here are just the tip of the iceberg. Imagine doing what you did but with 50 to 60 other people at one time. These are the squadrons: F-14s, F-15s, F-16s, F-18s, A-10s, and the helicopters UH-1 Huey, AH-64 Apache and then there are the Russian/European aircraft, too! The Caucasus map, Nevada (Las Vegas area), the Persian Gulf, Syria, the Sinai, South Atlantic (remember the Falklands?), and Guam. Of course, there is the English Channel with various WWII aircraft like the P-47, P-51, the Spitfire, the (Messerschmit) 109, the Focke Wulf 190, the Mosquito, and Paris like you've never seen it before. London, too. WWII! If I make a couple observations for you, Merp: Never, ever, use your landing lights on a carrier deck. As you made your approach, the long, skinny "E" bracket just to the left/center of your HUD told me that you were not, what is called, "On Speed". That means you were way too fast (should be about 140 knots), FULL flaps (not half), and trim your nose up as you slow down and put that "E" bracket and the VVI (the circle that shows you where you are traveling to) on top of one another. Then, never use the stick forward or aft but use the throttles to adjust your altitude. Put the "E" bracket/VVI (assuming you're "On Speed") on the (we call it the crotch) the left corner of the middle of the ship where is has a corner. But, like you said, once you get the hang of all the crazy details of DCS, you'll never have another hobby because you'll love doing this just as much as I do along with thousands of other aviators. Oh, and yeah, those clouds just take your breath away, don't they?

i been in love with dcs. i have mastered Hornet and mi-24 hind and love see you enjoying DCS as well. pro tip: in D/L button you will enter Datalink menu. press that button once to enter the 1st menu, press "on/off". if it didn't do any then press "on/off" again but hold it for 2 sec until the "on" text illuminates beneath the hud, press D/L again to enter 2nd datalink menu, press "on/off" button again or press and hold until "on" illuminates on screen. now you've setup yourself a datalink that allows you to see enemy's location according to the awacs and other aircraft's radar but this ain't all. press the sensor select switch down to SOI the bottom screen twice and you'll enter into the SA page which is also known as Electronic warfare page since it reveals approximate locations of SAM and airborne radar. idk have you known about this but i thought it might be helpful tip
