I just want to comment on the fact that this is probably the smoothest machine I’ve ever seen. Nothing really wobbled around (unlike literally every part of my new machine). Amazing
@jackofallspades985 жыл бұрын
Glad you noticed! Yes, smoothness is definitely something I've tried to improve in my machines recently. I love the way motions look when they slow down as they reach their destination instead of slamming into place at super high speeds. The final ball lift on the Rubik's cube and the cipher wheel gear trick are good examples of this, and those are two of the most satisfying motions in the machine to me.

The fact that this entire machine is also a one ball path is amazing. I clearly see your old compact style in this, but it is also merged with your new style with more foreign object tricks and not everything is just a track trick. My favorite tricks are probably the Kendama, the gears falling into the cart, and the ending. As always, great machine, and I really hope Michael will see this.

This is a really neat callback to your old style of single-table themed machines, though there is a clear discrepancy in your highly creative and unique motions, the wealth of materials and the amazing increase in professionalism. This is a fantastic theme to work with; so many great foreign object and trick opportunities that you utilized very well! There were so many little things to catch in this machine and I definitely can't list them all but some things that really stood out to me was the use of a kendama as a ball lift, and the idea of sticking an ambigram onto a spinning mechanism was quite clever. The ending is really nice too, the saucing up of the ball combined with the sings smoothly striding into place act as a sweet delicious cherry to top off the machine. Also the fact that this is a FREAKING ONE BALL PATH adds to the impressiveness, definitely making it the greatest one ball path machine yet. Truly epic~~!

Definitely feels like a return to form for me. It's seriously unbelievable how long it's been since my previous one-table, full-complexity compact machine. Nice to finally see what my style looks like when I build in that style! (Turns out it's not nearly as many Hot Wheels tracks as expected!)

I hope you get to work with Michael, you really do deserve it. Right off the bat though I'd like to say this is probably the most satisfying machine I've ever seen. I usually don't pay attention to the noises off the machine, but they are all weirdly quiet which makes the machine so much better. There's no crashes or any destructive tricks it's just a smooth machine from start to finish. Also the theming is top notch and when a machine is well themed that just shows more dedication which I appreciate. There are too many good tricks for me to point out so if I have to choose my favorites, it would be the gear train and for some reason the connection at 0:37. Small scale tricks like that just get me every time. Final thoughts: the machine is a true back to form for you after countless more experimental projects with style. I'd say this is easily my favorite machine from you as well. Amazing job!

Dang, Lyle, this machine is amazing. Considering how I'd never really found one ball paths that impressive, you executed the challenge of combining that and foreign objects really well. I rewatched the video like ten times so I could see all the cool intricate details within the machine. As for tricks, there's just so much that I enjoyed. Big things like the falling box, the gear on the flexing parallelogram, the trolley problem (my favorite trick) and the Japanese ball/hammer toy as well as small things like reusing the train track, the magnet ball lift and the use of the Newton's cradle really stuck out to me. I also absolutely loved how you solved the Rubix cube by turning three different sides, which I thought was genius. Also, I really liked that you used my eight ball, lol. It felt good that I was able to contribute. It goes without saying that this is definitely my favorite one table machine from you. I'm amazed that you were able to cram so much into one small table while still making remarkable tricks. Your style is so clean and professional, as well as how the video is edited and filmed and produced. There's a touch of magic I feel whenever I watch one of your videos, and this video is no exception. Looking forwards to Making Connections 5, really looking forward to DvMs 6 (give the 8 ball some more love, lol) and I also hope that Vsauce sees this and that you can do that machine for him because that would be awesome. Be sure to let me know if that happens :) Also how could you not use launchers lol

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO okay this is amazing So first off, I’d like to express that the idea of making a machine for Vsauce is a wonderful choice. There are so many references to be made, and the math and science concepts shown in his videos can often easily be translated to machines in many creative ways. Also the fact that you’re a Curiosity Box subscriber gives you a plethora of perfect items to use in your machine (I’m totally guessing because I saw the cipher wheel). 0:32 Okay the motion of this track is super smooth and elegant. Man, the things you can do with gears. It’s ridiculous, and it certainly inspires me to make some similar tricks of my own. 0:36- YO. That thing is so cool! You probably knew I would like this; the small, clever, and nifty tricks really stick out to me. 0:47 YES! I’ve been waiting for someone to do this! I’ve had the idea of a machine solving a rubiks cube for a while, but I didn’t have any good ways to tie that in to the machine. This is just perfect. 0:54- Okay this trick is just pure gold. The idea of having the kendama ball affect the weight of one side of the lever and then letting it fall off so it lifts a ball is amazing. So smaaaaart. 1:00- Yeah this made me lose it. This is a wonderful f u s e of the stick hitting ball into cup thingy with a gear chain. The way that the gears are rotated is a clever method as well. 1:03- Okay so I was initially confused because I wasn’t sure why the lever was moving a second time and why that was important, but then I noticed that the fidget spinner rotated twice and hit the same exact lever both times. You madlad. 1:07- Obligatory third use of machine element is obligatory, and cool. 1:08- Gabe is q u a k i n g 1:10- I don’t even know how to describe how this appeals to me anymore. I guess just taking advantage of small movements and properties of different objects and using them so well in a way that would go unnoticed to the normal eye is something I can appreciate. I can tell lots of thought and detail was put into this. 1:11- See last comment 1:15- What an ending. Man, I missed these themed machines. You do them so well! And this is clearly no exception. I loved finding all of the references too. 1:42 is that arrangement of cards from the math magic video or something else? 2:30 c o r n. Also, I’m curious, did you use a Brachistochrone curve anywhere in the machine that I didn’t notice? I feel like that concept in particular is so applicable to what we do. And I seriously hope that the deal goes through. A second Vsauce machine would be amazing. Great job dude, this was so sooo good. I sense that you’re about to experience a major boost in subscriber count.
@jackofallspades985 жыл бұрын
Haha I'm actually not actually a Curiosity Box subscriber, but I did buy a few things from the online store (Inq plush and slime kit - side note: the slime that covers the ball at the end is not even from the slime kit). Everything else is just a printout (cipher wheel), or something I already had (Newton's Cradle, gyroscope, kendama). The card arrangement is the Si Stebbins stack (CHSD order, +3 each time) with a sequence that ends in the J♠️. There's an entire DONG/D!NG video on it. The brachistochrone unfortunately never made the cut into the final machine, despite being one of my first ideas for a themed idea when I started planning this machine at the beginning of the year (or earlier, even, I think I knew that a Vsauce machine would be my next machine for at least a year and a half). You're right, it would've beena cool concept to include, but it would've taken up quite a bit of space. I would address all your other little comments but I have a feeling I'll touch on most of them in Making Connections. 😃
